How do you clamour for change when you don't actually understand the process involved and the loophole in that process that you want to correct. That is a red flag for me to ascertain your competency. Take it or leave it

I'm sure AA must be irritated at PGO’s statement. The late General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua would be terribly displeased. Below Quote is from a 2017 piece by Umar Ardo

You have totally and completely lost your mind and this post of yours will go down in infamy as the most consequential one you ever made. What you have written today is way beyond politics and you have assaulted the senses and wounded the sensitivities of all those who lost their lives, liberty and loved ones during the struggle against fascism, dictatorship and military rule. To mock the memory of those that died fighting for democracy in the June 12th struggle and sacrificed their lives and liberty as members of NADECO in this way is unacceptable and unforgivable. Simply put it is despicable. The blood of all those that were killed by General Abacha and his goons, whom you served, shall speak against you for the rest of your life and their spirits shall haunt you from now till eternity. For this reason alone you stand accursed before the world, you shall NEVER become President of our nation and, as from today, your dwindling star shall be totally eclipsed and fade away until it is no more. God will perfect it and the blood of Jesus will seal it! (FFK)

Yesterday defenders of democracy, today's destroyers, What a shame. What an irony of history, that the acclaimed defenders of democracy and human rights who claimed to have fought for democracy during the era of General Sani Abacha now find themselves worse than the man they opposed. Today, General Sani Abacha, once presumed face of oppression, will be remembered as seemingly more democratic and more respectful of human rights than the so-called champions of activism from the NADECO days. Power indeed reveals character. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

This is Pa Alfred Rewane… Obafemi Awolowo’s political secretary, staunch Awoist and chief financier of the NADECO movement. Murdered in cold blood by who? Abacha. Alfred Rewane, Oladipupo Odunsin, Milton Macaulay, Prince Adeleke Adedoyin, Akiniran Olunloyo, Bolaji Finnih and Sir Adeyemo Alakija were part of a group of Island Club members who went to Bristol hotel in 1948 to beat up the white people who insisted that no Nigerian could lodge at Bristol hotel. Sir Arthur Richards, the governor general of Nigeria was forced by this group to abolish racial discrimination/apartheid in Nigeria. Their action was why European club was renamed Ikoyi club and Nigerians could become members. In 1963 when Awolowo was imprisoned, Alfred Rewane refused to leave prison even after he was acquitted of treasonable felony. This is are the NADECO people, Obi is saying Abacha is more democratic than. Okay na.

This is Olu Onagoruwa And his son, Toyin. A renowned constitutional lawyer, Olu Onagoruwa was a thorn in the flesh of the military regimes of Muhammadu Buhari and Ibrahim Babangida. He represented Ken Saro-Wiwa, Minere Amakiri, Tai Solarin, Gani Fawehinmi, Beko Ransome-Kuti and Falana in court whenever the Military arrested them. Abacha killed his son Toyin. Why? Olu Onagoruwa who was minister of justice and attorney-genera disowned 8 decrees rolled out by Abacha, 1st offence. His 2nd offence was that he approved the release of Turner Ogboru whose brother Great Ogboru financed the Orkar coup against IBB. His son Toyin who had just finished his PhD was murdered infront of his house In Yaba. The assassins? Sgt Rogers, Frank Omenka and others. Olu was shot in the eye and in the back. Toyin’s mother died because of this incident and his father later developed a stroke and never recovered till he died. But Abacha is more of a democrat than NADECO Activists uno.

This Chief Alex Ibru In 1996, Abacha sent Al Mustapha and Sergeant Rogers to kill him. Sergeant Rogers shot him in the eye on top of the Falomo Bridge in Lagos. It happened on Friday, February 2, 1996, while on his way from the Federal Palace Hotel where he went for a board meeting, he was attacked. Sergeant Rogers walked up to Alex Ibru’s side of the Car, shot at him and Alex turned sideways. The bullet hit him in his left eye and his head shifted, that was how he lost his left eye. Luckily, the right eye was saved because of that shift. Alex was rushed to St. Nicholas Hospital. “Lo and behold, Rogers found his way to St. Nicholas hospital with his team but before then, we had already placed police people to provide security on all the stairs leading to Alex’s wardroom. They were not able to do anything," He was later rushed abroad in an air ambulance. He survived but lost an eye and two fingers. Why? Because Femi Falana facilitated the release of Turner Ogboru (the brother of the financier of the 1990 Gideon Okar coup) from prison and the AG & Alex Ibru as minister in charge of Prisons approved it. 16 years later He died. This is the Abacha Peter Obi is saying is democratic? Alright. 👍🏽

Kunle Ajibade was the Editor of The News magazine and he was sentenced to life for treason for publishing a story on the same coup during Abacha's reign. People were doing life in prison while Peter Obi was getting Port appointment from.the same dictator.

This is Bagauda Kaltho Kaltho was an investigative journalist who paid the ultimate price in the struggle for Nigeria’s democracy because he aligned with NADECO’s desire for democracy. How did he die? Abacha used a letter bomb to kill him. In 1999, Gov Tinubu renamed the Lagos State Press Centre, Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre. Last year, in 2025 President Tinubu conferred the posthumous national honour Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) on the late journalist. But Peter Obi thinks the Tyrant Abacha is more democratic than “so called NADECO activists”.

This is Kunle Ajibade. The co-founder of TheNEWS and PM NEWS. In 1995 he was jailed for life by General Sani Abacha for treason. He spent 3 years in Makurdi prison. His crime? Reporting the news. But according to Peter Obi, Abacha is a democrat.

Power does reveal character, but history isn’t optional. Abacha’s regime brought military dictatorship, Ogoni executions, Kudirat’s assassination, billions looted, and a gagged press with many living in fear of being locked in dungeons. Some families never recovered from the trauma and those old wounds have not healed fully. NADECO activists weren’t perfect including a few relatives of mine, but equating them as “worse” than that era romanticizes real atrocities many Nigerians suffered. Let’s critique today’s failures on rule of law and accountability across all sides, but let’s not rewrite the past to score points. I would equally frown tomorrow if someone says endsars protesters, are worse than murderous/criminal police officers. A New Nigeria needs facts, not selective memory. Let’s build Nigeria forward with truth. 🇳🇬
