95% of ferry sailings in Scotland go ahead and sail as normal.
Some of the 5% cancelled due to weather.
That’s the fact.
Listen to yoons and you’d think it was 95% didn’t sail.

But it’s not reported, because it’s not Scotland.
@LBC@lewis_goodall Streeting in listing UK failures and badly handled crisis and basically states Scotland must just keep putting up with more of that.
"The country has had enough of chaos!"
Wes Streeting rules out Scottish independence, telling @Lewis_Goodall that there will be no fresh referendum even if the SNP get a majority.
Arran ferry cancellations due to mechanical faults plummet by factor of SEVEN in only three years, to only 2% and half the number due to weather talkingupscotlandtwo.com/2026/04/13/arr…
@CalMac_Updates FAO @CMAssets@transcotland@CalMacFerries
Time to get specialists in, from Flensburger Yard in Germany or Bow Ramp manufacturer, and today.
That's what other 24 hour shipping operators do when faced with a breakdown - this vessel is 24 hour operation with two crews onboard.
❌RED #Ullapool#Stornoway 13Apr The repair to the Bow Ramp on MV loch Seaforth has been unsuccessful. Engineers are continuing to work on a repair. As a result, this service is cancelled.
There will be an update later today
@CalMac_Updates services status says Tuesday vehicles sailings Leverburgh Berneray are now on alternative vessel. As you’re not taking phone calls can you confirm that all booked cars will be carried?
It shows how the SNP is doing precious little wrong when the major topic the BBC calls them out on is ferries only operating at 95% availability in some of the most difficult waters in Europe. Meanwhile from Westminster ….soaring child poverty, sewage in rivers, tuition fees etc
@CalMac_Updates Thank you for your replies. I will try the number again. I know final confirmation might not be able to be given yet but can you instead confirm if you are considering a Tarbert / Lochmaddy reinforcement? You should be carrying 34 cars not 7 (if MV Leslie Anne makes it over)
@BambooSaviour Hi, if there is any change to vessel deployment we will communicate it out and keep the service page updated. calmac.co.uk/service-status… . Our engagement teams are open and taking calls. Due to it being very busy, it may take longer than usual to get through. I am sorry for 1/2
@jimac1111@ChristineCair15 I've lost count of the number of times I've travelled on @CalMacFerries all around Scotlands west coast.
The service they provide is outstanding.
Friends on Arran are sick to death of the exaggerated tales of woe on @BBCScotlandNews which are damaging tourism.
Stop the lies!
BBC Scotland has produced approx 150 to 200 ferry stories in the last year.
Cal Mac is running with a success rate of over 95%. They are amongst the cheapest ferry connections in the world and work in some of the most challenging waters in Europe.
@CalMac_Updates Your number said yesterday that you are not taking calls. As the MV Leslie Anne only takes 7 cars can you confirm you’ll run MV Clansman or MV Alfred between Tarbert and Lochmaddy to alleviate the pressure on the route.
@BambooSaviour Hi there, Port teams will be contacting impacted customers. New bookings are currently closed. If you a current booking and not heard I would encourage to speak with our engagement team on 0800 066 5000.

@CalMacFerries Any estimate how long it’ll take? Yet again we can’t plan anything all due to CalMac insistence that if anyone has to suffer on the network that Lochboisdale must have it worst.
@BambooSaviour Hi there, our teams are currently working on the moves in date order as soon as we have more information on the dates we are working on and opened for new bookings we will post on our service status page here: calm.ac/37. Thanks
@CalMac_Updates@CalMacFerries given that you’re disrupting the Lochboisdale run again as per usual- when will you open the route up for bookings again!?
@WalkAlanWalk@jamiegreeneUK Ok, let the islands declare independence and take our natural resources. As well as that we’d have democratic accountability.
@jamiegreeneUK Why are we subsidising travel for people who choose to live on an island? These people are a huge financial drain on Scotland's budget.
Privatise CalMac and let the islanders pay full fares.
Apparently I “bang on about ferries”.
Yup I do. Ask businesses on Arran how much trade they’ve lost due to ferry problems.
Local commerce groups estimate every cancelled sailing costs the local economy £13k. Others put it at £170K per day.
So zero apologies for raising it👇
In the 25 years pre-devolution the UK Government straightened and bypassed the A9 up to (then) modern standard, dualled 28 miles and built the Kessock, Cromarty, and Dornoch bridges along the road.
In the 25 years post devolution the Scottish Government have dualled 11 miles.
Huh this is cool.
The population density of the UK conveniently forms a convenient Y-shaped network with an option to then connect another line across the north.
If we wanted some kind of new decent quality transport network, it should probably look something like this.
🔶 AMBER #Oban#Castlebay#Lochboisdale 28Nov Due to poor visibility, the 12:40 departure from Oban has not yet berthed in Lochboisdale.
An update regarding this sailing and the leg to Castlebay will be provided as soon as possible.
