This is a strange case where the Hajj Committee of India has given free but mandatory smartwatches for everyone going for Hajj. The watch with an inbuilt camera and mic is obviously collecting some of this information. The question is who has access to this data?
Mubashir.Khurram@infomubashir

The smartwatch distributed by the Hajj Committee of India is not just tracking movement and baggage, but also taking photos of surroundings and accessing microphones through a private company’s pre-installed app. This raises serious questions about the privacy and security of pilgrims. Dear @KirenRijiju @RijijuOffice , can you clarify how the @MOMAIndia & the @hcoi_official @Hajcommitttee permitted a private company’s app with camera and microphone access to be pre-installed on devices given to pilgrims? Were pilgrims clearly informed about these permissions? Was explicit consent taken before distributing such devices? If the objective is only GPS tracking and safety of pilgrims, that can already be achieved through smartphones, which almost every pilgrim carries today. Then why was there a need for smartwatches with additional surveillance-related capabilities like cameras and microphones? Pilgrims travel for a sacred spiritual journey, not to be subjected to unchecked data collection and possible surveillance. Transparency is essential. The government must disclose: • Which private company developed the app • What data is being collected • Where the data is stored • Who has access to it • Whether audio, images, or personal metadata are being transmitted or retained Privacy cannot be compromised in the name of convenience or management. I urge @RahulGandhi @asadowaisi @SanjayAzadSln @yadavakhilesh @MahuaMoitra @sagarikaghose @RuhullahMehdi @priyankagandhi to kindly raise the issue because it’s not about only breach of privacy it can be spying through technology via Indian citizens.

Meehl doesn't get enough credit. Also, Bowley, soon after Neyman's 1934 presentation, said: "I am referring to Dr. Neyman's confidence limits. I am not at all sure that the "confidence" is not a "confidence trick."

This is just engagement-farming. Lots of the calling-out came from academics (eg, Alan Sokal, Andrew Gelman, Simonsohn, Joannidis , etc. — all with .edu addresses). Also, people are busy doing their thing.

Honble Supreme Court said while hearing a petition for restoring the deleted votes "if the total winning margin is less than the no. of voters deleted and pending before Tribunal, a re-election would be directed. Fact 27 lakh voters deleted and standing in appeal before Tribunal and there are 294 seats. BJP must win each seat with more than 10,000 vote margin else re-election should be legally inevitable. indianexpress.com/article/legal-…

There is also a single account which accounted for by far, until about a few days back, the largest individual holdings in the market. Though not a prolific bettor, this account has had above average success. They had bet ~$40K on the YES outcome for BJP winning the most seats.
