Trump’s deal with Iran only proves what I’ve said all along: peace is not brought into our lives at the end of the barrel of a gun, by a bomb, or via the chokehold of suppression or oppression. True safety and security can only be realized through diplomacy. True change happens because of the power of the people. Over Trump’s illegal four month war in Iran, billions of our taxpayer dollars were used to kill thousands and force millions from their homes. The “strong man” idea of “peace through strength" leads to death and destruction. Now we must pass the War Powers Resolution for Lebanon to be sure Congress is clear: not one more bomb, not one more dollar, not one more excuse for war, genocide, and displacement.

He is now facing a felony resisting arrest charge. This case is starting to resemble what happened with Summer Wells, Gabby Petito, and Idaho 4...where public interest crosses the line into public spectacle. Who can forget the fights and protests outside of Brian Laundrie's house? When a case reaches the point where people are being arrested and charged while livestreaming outside a missing person’s home, it’s a sign that the focus has shifted in the wrong direction. Nancy Guthrie deserves better than having her disappearance become a complete circus. However, this seems to be the trend with any high profile case now..
