One week with Bumpy! Like any baby, he sleeps deeply and often – especially snuggled up to his Keeper, with a tummy full of milk. Bumpy was rescued just last weekend, after the Kenya Wildlife Service received reports of a deceased female hippo with an orphan left behind. She appears to have died in a territorial fight, likely defending her baby’s life. Bumpy had stayed huddled beside his mother’s body for at least a day. Now, Bumpy has a family with us and a wild future ahead. He’ll never be alone again – Keepers like Joseph, pictured here, are with him around the clock, loving him and attending to his every need. @Johnpoppersfas2 @KyleClark What kind of dog is yours? I recently adopted mine from a shelter, and he looks a lot like that. He's sort of greyhound....and a bunch of other stuff. Runs like the wind, smart and kinda sassy. I'll get a DNA for him one of these days.

@HerbertHistory Ok, last one, I promise. Spendy, but the Royal Gorge RR is awesome, and you can do a no meal one that's ( slightly) cheaper. ( Mt Princeton Hot Springs is AMAZING, but probably too far of a drive for a day trip).

@HerbertHistory When you've got that all done, go to the Broadmoor. It's fun to walk through, and they do a nice job of presenting the ( very interesting) history of it. Then, choose a restaurant there and have lunch. It's cheaper than dinner but still atmospheric.

@HerbertHistory Have one day in Colorado Springs. Garden of the God's is free and has shorter hikes if that's not her favorite thing to do. It's easy to be graceful about that by noting the much higher altitude. Go sort of early in the morning for heat avoidance. Visitor Center is also good.

@HerbertHistory No other airport has Blucifer. It's the best. Plus, it's so dang awesome to have a window seat and track geography/Geology with the app Flyover Country. Best scenery ever.

Very happy to see this letter from UWyo telling me that my promotion and tenure have been approved and I'll be an associate professor next year. This is my third career and there were moments when I was not sure this would happen. Grateful that it did !
