@vtchakarova When you realize Trump sees himself as the messiah who will bring about the fourth turning, you will see how likely this is.

I expect that the two geopolitical blocs centered around US and DragonBear will have to come to terms to prevent the world for going into the abyss. Ukraine was the first proxy war; Iran is the second one amid new Cold War between US & China-Russia. It’s “managed” confrontation.
Rhain Williams@rhainw

@vtchakarova If the expected impact so big, do you expect it’ll evolve into WW3?

Apparently Chuck Norris died like 20 years ago. Death was just too scared to tell him until today.

RIP Chick Norris: FACTS about Chuck Norris: 1. Chuck Norris doesn’t do push-ups… He pushes the Earth down. ⸻ 2.When Chuck Norris enters a room, he doesn’t turn the lights on — he turns the dark off. ⸻ 3.Chuck Norris counted to infinity. Twice. ⸻ 4.Death once had a near-Chuck Norris experience. ⸻ 5.Chuck Norris can divide by zero. ⸻ 6.There is no theory of evolution… just a list of creatures Chuck Norris allows to live. ⸻ 7.Chuck Norris doesn’t sleep. He waits. ⸻ 8.When the Boogeyman goes to sleep every night, he checks his closet for Chuck Norris. ⸻ 9.Chuck Norris can slam a revolving door. ⸻ 10.The dinosaurs looked at Chuck Norris the wrong way once. You know what happened to them.

@vtchakarova Ever read Peter Zeihan’s stuff? Regardless of what you think of it, Trump seems to be using it as a playbook.

@vtchakarova Especially when tariffs just got shut down as a mechanism. I’m not claiming it’s well thought out. But it might be part of the plan.

@vtchakarova There is at least a real chance that a country self-sufficient in oil and bent on curbing imported goods wouldn’t mind a supply side shock that disproportionately affects exporters.

@vtchakarova You miss one possibility: Trump leaves the strait closed, limits oil exports, and lets the rest of the world collapse. Yeah, the US will suffer, but we have most of what we need at home. The rest of the world? Not so much. I fear THIS is the war Trump is fighting.

@HothaAli The problem is this pipeline is a fixed asset. If Iran chooses, it can target it with drones. Eventually some will get through.

Saudi Arabia just turned Iran’s Strait of Hormuz “threat” into a geopolitical joke. Saudi Arabia embarrassed Iran by simply moving its oil west and showing the world that it is the most reliable energy supplier on the planet.

@ArmisteadHlt @johnkonrad @mercoglianos Very little helium is in shale oil - the bulk of US petroleum production. I’m not sure how much untapped capacity we have with continental oil production, but at a minimum, it would take time to build.

@BarchokMatthew @johnkonrad @mercoglianos Helium's not too hard to pivot to domestically. It's produced as a byproduct of natural gas extraction. However, it's not worth the cost of storage and transport so it gets vented instead of collected. If we really need helium in a hurry, we know where to find it.

“Persian Gulf exports a third of the world’s fertilizer.” I just had to explain why that matters to 6 U.S. naval officers in a row. How can you be a naval officer & not know the Guano Islands Act of 1856? This is why we must reform the Naval Woke College and USNA! The U.S. literally sent warships around the world defending islands for bird poop. Coolest naval law ever.

Yes but the more the better & our NATO ally minesweepers desperately need the training offered in trasit even before entering the Gulf
Warren Platts@WarrenPlatts

@ELuttwak My understanding is that the Americans have 3 Littoral Combat Ships in the area that are equipped for mine sweeping duties. There were four dedicated mine sweepers in the Gulf but they moved them out a couple of months or so ago.
