For those that are posting “RIP SE” or panicking about this rumor of SE shutting down. Just calm down and hold your horses. These are just rumors in a he said she said situation and SE has not posted an official statement about this. Only a soon-to-be former employee has started this rumor by posting it in a SE Sponsorship Discord as he was a sponsorship manager for SE; no post has been made in the official SE discord. @zachbussey has made he’s creditable opinion about this situation and is stating that it’s only been spread due to one individual and not multiple staff members as of recently. Please wait of an official statement - just back up your widgets and overlays in case this is true. Otherwise carry on and don’t believe everything you see on the internet that isn’t from the actual company themselves.

RE: StreamElements To get everyone on the same page, here's a breakdown on what's happening, because rumors always travel further and faster in a vacuum. Earlier today, there was an initial rumor that StreamElements was laying off all staff and shutting down. I heard this secondhand from a trusted source, but, like any rumor, it was not confirmed; it was merely a starting point. (I personally require at least two independent sources to confirm a story, as individuals can make mistakes or misinterpret the facts, especially if there's a reason that might make it personal.) Since then, this single source has repeated this story to everyone in his StreamElements Sponsorship Discord (not the official one), and as such, it has been shared as a rumor widely across streamer Twitter. Yes, he does work for StreamElements as a Creator Success Manager. So, he does have credibility. At the same time, I have attempted to get secondary confirmation from anyone at StreamElements - but have been unable to. Every person I have spoken to about this (creators, former SE staff, media people) has the same source... the person mentioned above. Now that said, let's talk contributing factors: 1. StreamElements continues to be silent on the matter. 2. They have been slow to pay users in recent weeks. 3. They seem to have been removed from Twitch's Third Party sponsorship offers. 4. They have been soliciting donations to keep the service free. 5. They have had numerous layoffs over the last few years, and more have left of their own volition in the last few months. On the other hand, it's unusual to simply shut down a service with hundreds of thousands of users without first becoming a paid service. Or maybe just shutting down part of the service and focusing wholly on the sponsorship side. Either way, it's unusual. This entire thing is unusual. And while the rumors may end up being true, I don't feel confident saying that yet. As I said, my standard is at least two independent confirmations - more is better. I always prefer being right to being first. That said, given the situation as presented, it may still be worthwhile to ensure any SEPay money is requested, and you may want to download your alerts (or move to an alternative, such as Streamlabs. Disclosure: I have a partnership with them - but an easy link to do so is attached below.) If I learn more before StreamElements addresses it publicly themselves, I will share whatever facts I can confirm.

If the rumors are true, it's heartbreaking to see another valuable service for streamers shut down. Not surprising though as @StreamElements only got $612 last month from their 2.6M daily users to keep the service running. Please support the tools you use 😔

@ToadPhd @zachbussey actually, when it comes to their bot and alerts, I hav had WAY less issues with Streamlabs then SE! and I LOVE that their alerts for Twitch, youtube and kick, only use 1 alert browser source!

@Admiredplague True, but I found YouTube full partner easy, but a grind, where as twitch partner forced me to be better to get more to watch! But that is the difference between the 2, twitch is live and makes you be better, were YouTube makes you need to get better at editing and such

@Barneyjack Yes but with youtube you know EXACTLY what you need. Affiliate to partner is a massive gap and not even positive to shift when you get the numbers.

Crazy to see the affiliates who told partners to shut up about the barrier to entry get lowered for partner benefits now seeing this happen and lose their minds. Personally the whole system needs to be reworked and be more like YouTube. Said this when affiliate status was announced how it should be a tiered system with more and more perks unlocked as you go.

@Admiredplague YouTube only has 2 steps! Superchats and stickers.....then everything else.....which twitch has 2 steps, the only difference is twitch is now giving you everything up front, but you can't pull money out till your affiliate, that actually is way better then YouTube!

@Barneyjack Meant their system overall. Could start with bits as income, then monetized ads, then sponsorship dashboard, then subs. Just a nice easy way to track how to go through the tiers like how youtube does it. Provides incentive and a clear path

@OhHeyTerry Feel bad about the platfrom? Youtube is demonitizing channels by the 10s of Thousands thru the use of AI MONTHLY, allowing weaponization of the DMCA. There is NO good platform and ALL platforms have their issues, but Youtube has Major faults of its own!!

I've seen sitting on this one for a while, but I think I'm gonna go through with it. I'm done. Both Twitch and Kick no longer align with my values as a creator. I'll be doing my live streams over my gaming Youtube Channel. You can find it at @OhHeyTerryYT" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">youtube.com/@OhHeyTerryYT Youtube isn't perfect. But for what I do it's a hell of a lot better than both Kick and Twitch. And I'll be able to stream there at much higher quality due to being able to use both HEVC and AV1 encoding at higher bitrates. I'll still be in chats, but I believe this is the best move for me. I want to feel good about the platform I create content on. not feel bad every time I hit Go live. Here's to the future, everyone. Let's get to work.
