The Pacific Guardian, Japan as Asia's Britain! 🇯🇵 For centuries, Britain followed a consistent grand strategy: prevent any single power from dominating continental Europe. When a state grew too strong (usually France) Britain intervened, funding coalitions or leveraging its fleet to contain it. The objective was not conquest, but equilibrium, as a continental hegemony would inevitably threaten Britain's own sovereignty. Japan is perfectly positioned to do the same (and by all means already does). The implication is straightforward. If the objective is to prevent Chinese hegemony on the continent, the most effective approach is not direct confrontation, but reinforcement of this "offshore balancer". In the Pacific case, that is Japan. The more we strengthen Japan, (Asia's Britain), the more we weaken China (Asia's France). In danger of stating the obvious, both Europe and America should be more open towards Japan. We should give Japan more trade deals, mineral rights, bases in areas such as Malaysia and Indonesia, grant tariff exceptions and so on. For example, there should be a Japanese "silk road", and these "Temu/Aliexpress" apps should be countered with similar apps from Japan. Not sure why these things are not already being done, as a strong Japan benefits our security greatly.

Yes SG food is essentially a pricey version of MY food. But there is a twist: the reason Singapore has been able to appropriate Malaysian cuisine as Singaporean is because the Malaysian govt never bothered to claim it first, viewing most of it as foreign (non-Malay) cuisine.

@SpicyDumpling02 China is the only country in the region that is actually self sufficient in this and therefore has full sovereignty. Buying weapons from a party to a potential conflict gives them leverage. Reliance on outsiders means at some point you make concessions, it has to be indigenous.
