Imagine thinking you've dunked on someone using this list. A Hall of Famer, a Wall of Famer, and a generational talent. A group of 10 guys with career earnings in the neighborhood of $1B--and would easily exceed that figure if not for tragedy.

Among elite SP, it seems like they start turning pumpkin around age 38-39. Wheeler is 35 (5/30/90).

If Zack Wheeler returns to form without any hiccups and plays out the next two years of his contract, and if the league doesn't lock out too much of 2027, and if Wheeler decides to go back on his previous claim that this is his last contract

Now I'm trying to figure out where I would have guessed their win total. I think I would have said Dodgers, Phillies, Brewers, then either Yankees or Padres for fourth.

@StatlineScout I mean, it makes complete sense to redefine/replace the hit tool grade. It's not quite the batting average of tool grades, but it's hard to get right and easy to ignore.
I wonder if there's a more apt name that doesn't invite comparisons to the scouting concept.

Similarly Judge does very well by this same definition. Which is a definition we came to after surveying public opinion on what inputs should be considered. Certainly does not mean it is above critique, but the general public overwhelmingly signaled they felt on base skills need to be a part of the equation.

@StatlineScout tbc, not saying there's anything wrong with STS having an alternate definition, it just threw me a bit.

@StatlineScout He being Basallo. I mean, he's one of the clearest 40-grade hit tools around under the traditional definition (which is more about feel for contact). You could argue it's a 45 or 35. You could really stretch to 30 or 50. But it's not a 70.

@Sascha919 @Miggysbat @MooneyOwnsYou Why would any games be lost? They played a full season in 2021 despite losing 8 days to the lockout. They could easily do the same for WBC. Tie it into the ASB, and that's 12 days, at least, without impacting regular season games.

@Miggysbat @MooneyOwnsYou That depends on how much revenue a mid-season WBC gives them. They own the tournament, they would never allow a mid-season tournament outside of their own stadiums. It's not crazy to think it makes more money than the lost regular season games

You think player participation is compromised now? There is NO way any team in postseason contention allows their players to join this tournament if it happens during the All-Star Break.

@Brandon_Warne I disagree with the flippancy of the thought. That's not to say trading those players didn't make sense in those specific deals, but you don't do it just to do it. You do it because it makes the organization stronger.

Rays are projected to finish 2nd in bullpen WAR this year with Griffin Jax (1.9) as their best RP. Phillies projected 3rd with Jhoan Duran (2.1) as best RP. Twins projected 20th with Cole Sands (0.7) as best RP. If Twins still had one of Duran/Jax, they'd be top 5.
