@DGrayTexas45 @_BossHawg67 @SharpFootball It appeared to be a drill on extending plays and what happens if the RB out of the backfield runs his route too shallow. If anyone truly it was Browns scrimmaging they’re clueles. Browns have been practicing extending plays at minicamp.

Left Handed Centers Bob Lanier was an 8x NBA All-Star, first selction of the 1970 NBA draft. Also still holds the Piston franchise record for points in a game - 48. Willis Reed is not available. Can you name another NBA left handed center?

Attorney Jeffrey Kessler has sent to the Big 12 a letter detailing potential legal action if the league sanctions Brendan Sorsby or Texas Tech and requests the conference preserve all documents for possible discovery.

The court order is explicit. It has a list of on going obligations he has to comply to. Also the court order is specific that if he doesn’t comply the NCAA can petition for emergency relief. This narrative that Sorsby has unfettered eligibility after the 2 game suspension is a lie, it’s false. READ THE DAMN COURT ORDER
Andrew Brandt@AndrewBrandt

They can do all the things they discuss: support/rehab/be around teammates/coaches, etc. while at same time abiding by NCAA, Conference and (I would think) school rules with consequences of ineligibility for what he did. But alas, he's their starting quarterback.

The judge wrote in his order that he was persuaded that not being able to play would have a high probability of doing irreparable psychological damage. Clearly that stemmed from a diagnosis from psychologists on the plaintiffs side. In a trial the defense would have an opportunity to counter. Being a temporary injunction judge went along for now. Judge is concerned about Civil Law and Civil Procedure.

#Browns Todd Monken, fighting through a lost voice, says the key for Shedeur Sanders is to “process quicker, get the ball out of his hands and eliminate lost-yardage plays.” The playmaking ability is there and he’s been more decisive.

Reading defensive keys at the LOS, knowing what opponents defenses they play, knowing your receivers. Your receivers have to be able to do some of this. Flacco & Cooper worked beautifully together. Cooper ran such great routes it gave Flacco the ability to anticipate where Cooper was going and get the ball out really early, often before Cooper was out his break. Thing of beauty to me. I don’t think it’s rocket science or anything.

Dan Labbe just said something that I always suspected. He said Monken told reporters that Shedeur needs to process faster (and needs to get rid of the ball faster). The only thing holding Shedeur back from being good/great in the NFL is his slow processing. @afternoon923FAN

@Rob_Shenanigans To find out he has to play to see if he can improve that. Get coaching in order to critique his play from game video. Classroom is important but experience in applying what you’ve learned needs to happen. It’s a process.

The belief is obviously that if he complies with the treatment as specified in the obligations he’ll be rehabilitated. Just as obviously the judge heard from Sorsby’s attorneys what would constitute effective treatment for his disorder based on psychological evaluation and psychologist recommendations. I can tell from your snark you’re not open to the idea that Sorsby can receive effective rehabilitative treatment based on a diagnosis and rehabilitation plan from educated psychology professionals. That’s fine. It’s an opinion you have.

Some people are interested the facts. The judge is not ignoring the concerns of the NCAA. Conditions imposed on Sorsby The injunction is not unconditional. The court requires him to: Continue individual counseling with a provider credentialed in gambling disorder treatment. Participate in Gamblers Anonymous (or similar support group). Continue treatment for adjustment disorder with anxiety. Participate in athlete-specific recovery resources and mentorship. Not participate in game-day activities for the first two Texas Tech games of the 2026 season. Provide monthly confidential compliance reports to the NCAA through counsel. If he violates the conditions The order states that the NCAA may seek emergency relief from the injunction if he fails to comply with the conditions. Bond requirement The injunction becomes effective upon posting a $5,000 surety bond with the court clerk.

Sports Broadcasting Act of 1961 gives the NFL a limited antitrust exemption. Otherwise the NFL in negotiating TV contracts as one entity (teams colluding on fees for broadcast rights) would be in violation of antitrust laws. I hope you can start to see that the government is clearly having a say in how the NFL operates. Getting back to network broadcast rights, generally speaking fans get to watch games for free on the broadcast networks. There have been lawsuits regarding NFL Sunday Ticket the gist of which is the NFL is violating anti trust laws in such arrangements IE it isn’t covered by the Sports Broadcasting Act. Likewise with streaming broadcast rights. Sunday Ticket lawsuit is on going. Won’t get into the history of the lawsuit but it is interesting. Obviously technology has changed the broadcast landscape from what it was in 1961. Congress is dealing with that.

@2844Rocco @DavidZavac One projects to lead team to 7 victories, the other 3 victories. Neither gives the team more than a 5% chance to make the playoffs. Would you start the player who projected to lead the team to 7 wins? I mean you posted neither is a good option.

He's on the team and healthy and would have $131 million in dead cap if they cut him. I don't know what they're supposed to do, but starting a 5th rounder who was historically horrible last year would not be my choice.

I have come around to your view that this is a sunk cost issue with Watson. Sanders will be QB 1 for the Browns in 2026. To answer your other post about cutting Watson now. Apparently the Browns view the salary impact as too large ($127 million+ from overthecap ). Browns have positioned themselves to have Watson be a post 6/1 cut in 2027. After 2026 Watson will have been paid all his money. Remember what and when the player is paid and how it is accounted for on the salary cap are two different things. In 2022-23 Watson was paid ~$92 million and the Browns accounted for only $28 million of it on the salary cap and push $64 million to subsequent years. Watson will be paid $46 million in 2026 and the Browns will account for it as $40 million on the salary pushing another $6 million to the remainder of the unaccounted for pay.

My read on Monken and the QB competition… The Browns assumed Watson was going to run away with the QB1 job and it would be an easy call by the end of voluntary OTAs. He didn’t. And not only that, but Shedeur’s quick learning curve has surprised everyone.

Deshaun Watson is now the longest tenured offensive player on the Browns. Think about how bad that trade is... Literally no offensive player is left on the roster from before the trade.

Browns have pushed the financial impact of his pay to future seasons on the assumption the salary cap will increase thus financial impact is a lower percentage of the cap. Cutting a player more or less negates that strategy and makes the cap impact immediate. Browns have positioned themselves to make him a post 6/1 cut in 2027 spreading the remaining unaccounted for pay (Watson will have been paid all his money after this season). What and when the player is paid and accounting for it are two different things. Cap impact IMO will be substantial still when he’s cut in 27. Eagles as an example account for players salaries by make every player’s base pay the league minimum and account for the rest with signing bonuses, restructures, etc operating on the assumption the salary cap will increase over time. Salary cap has risen at a compounded rate of 7+% since the cap was implemented.

@Rob_Shenanigans Generationally shitty and they keep f***ing monkeying around with his contract instead of just taking the hit. We already dwell in last, why not just eat it and finally be free? Hated it then and it's actually been worse than I feared.....but Haslam accountable so we have that.

Ok fair enough. — I am not sure if Sorsby is under investigation by the Feds. — Look how long it took for the Feds to build a case vs Ortiz and Clase. Then schedule a trial. The season will be over. Charges may happen but not anytime soon. Bring a criminal case but not likely to interfere with his playing this season.

@BaseballExpl Would be up to a prosecutor because no “insider trading” law explicitly exists. But placing bets underage/with someone else’s account could bring into question wire act(18 USC 1084). Wire fraud is the most common charge when discussing gambling schemes.

If we’re being totally frank, Sorsby is lucky that the conversation around him today is about ineligibility and not indictment Betting on a game in which your team is playing isn’t just an ethical issue…. Using materially non-public info to trade or bet is a federal crime.

@Dtgreat13 @JeffreyTheGreek Road schools suing Texas Tech, Sorsby or both? What damages will they be seeking on what grounds? If the cases make it to discovery how long will that last? If they seek injunctive relief how will they show they’ll likely prevail on the merits?

I don’t understand the legalese details of the Sorsby case. But what’s stopping circuit judges in Colorado, Ohio, & Oklahoma from ruling him ineligible in THEIR state(s)? Same goes for Florida, Cali, and any other states where Sorsby/TTU could plan in the postseason??
