The biggest flaw in Orwell’s brilliant 1984 is that the main characters in his socialist totalitarian hellscape have enough food to eat and their technology is functioning.

Why do people act like food is some super rare commodity? We already solved the problem of how to allocate resources given scarcity---it's called capitalism. This is undoubtedly a far more value-productive usage of that chocolate than eating it would be. "You're wasting it!" is the cry of the communist. We actually don't have to live in a world where every single good is rationed out by the government. The very freedom that allows this man to lather himself in chocolate is the freedom that allows the chocolate to be produced in the first place.

I want to point out that Caleb was wrong on financial audit today. He said 50% of our spending is on social programs. That's wrong. It's 80%.

It's genuinely embarrassing to see yet another politician proposing a "down payment assistance program" aka stimulating demand for housing for the millionth time. We'd be better off bombing ourselves & hoping for a Hiroshima or Nagasaki style recovery than doing this crap again

Would you rather spend $200 billion to bomb Iran or…? A: give every teacher in America a $62,500 bonus B: provide downpayment assistance for 20 million young families C: build 1,300 rural hospitals

It's a MORAL IMPERATIVE to take 1/3 of your paycheck so we can have all of our ERs filled up by Hispanic families who bring their obese kids in for free treatment whenever they have the sniffles
Pope Crave@ClubConcrave

Pope Leo, the first pope from the US—a country which does not have universal health coverage—calls universal healthcare a 'moral imperative' at a conference with WHO and European bishops this week: “Health cannot be a luxury for the few.”

So my choices are: 1. Bomb Iran 2. Give bonuses to teachers, a profession entirely responsible for a dramatically rising illiteracy rate because they refuse to teach kids to read phonetically 3. Down payment assistance for mystery meat migrant “paperwork Americans” 4. Spend 200 billion on Medicaid which will be scammed be “rural hospitals” You’re making it hard to NOT CHOOSE bombing Iran at this point

"What if instead of funding right-wing causes, we fund left-wing causes?" I would rather see the entire treasury emptied to build Benjamin Netanyahu a golden throne then give a single penny to teachers, the most worthless people on the planet, or build hospitals in dying towns.
