@lilyraynyc If you do a researched piece from primary sources, is it better to post on sub stack rather than a wordpress site?

The internet is a sloppy mess. None of this information is based in reality. More on my upcoming Substack.

@lilyraynyc I think there are some benefits to AI. Eleven labs voice clone is very good and really helps with voice over work. It means I have produced more content. As an aside, Linkedin has to be the worst for AI content

So many new posts and articles about automating all of your content creation and social media posting with AI, but crickets when it comes to: - what to do when it annoys and alienates your audience - what to do when people begin to unfollow and block your account - the backlash it will have on your company’s reputation as people are increasingly bothered by AI content - the damage it will do to your personal brand when people feel that your posts are surface-level and lack authenticity.

@lilyraynyc One that makes me scratch my head is a Rwandan job site beating out fox sports for an NBA term 🤷

This is the top comment on the article ranking #1 for "what should I eat for dinner" - it contains a link to another page on BBC Good Food Obviously not all subreddits are excited about links in the comments (or spammy Reddit accounts), but this is a great way to drive traffic from highly visible threads

@rustybrick Reddit should learn not to rely on one source of traffic and diversify 😂

@emiliesyverson @BasketballNoise @lilyraynyc However, Google now has an expanded partnership with Reddit. It indexes Reddit pages significantly thanks to a special agreement with Reddit that allows Google exclusive access to its content for AI training purposes. This is not 2014.

In case anyone was concerned, Reddit’s little visibility drop lately was only temporary. They are once again more visible than ever in Google’s results, with no sign of slowing down. The number one ranking factor on Google in 2025 is being Reddit.

@IMBillyGee @lilyraynyc I can see a lot of people making articles on Reddit to put their links to try and get up to the top of Google

@lilyraynyc One I noticed in recent years is the number of news sites pumping out "nfl picks" and related pages just to drive people through to betting sites like fanduel. Nytimes, usatoday type sites with carbon copy pages providing nothing but odds, brief summary and links.

Early thoughts about how Site Reputation Abuse will impact the SERPs: Obviously, the biggest players have (finally) been removed from top positions for all kinds of high-volume keywords. Many of the same sites that people have been complaining about being able to rank for everything for the past couple of years. This frees up a whole lot of SEO opportunity, visibility and traffic for other sites not engaged in Site Reputation Abuse, such as specialized product review/affiliate sites, plus informational publishers. Think Nerdwallet, Investopedia, Tech Radar, Tech Crunch, Nolo, Bankrate, etc. The providers that the affiliate sites linked to - like insurance companies, VPNs, etc. - will probably see improved rankings as well. Beyond that, this change will absolutely benefit Reddit and Quora even more, as Google has been showing a ton of forum results & "Discussions and Forums" for review & comparison content. I'm already seeing Reddit take top positions where Forbes ranked before. Ecommerce sites will likely benefit as well, especially if they have blogs and upper-funnel content that answers questions previously targeted by the penalized publishers. (See Purina example below, and don't ask me why Purina Arabia ranks #1 in the US 😅) Also, small sites like law firm websites, government websites, and other "authorities" will gain rankings lost by many YMYL queries where these big players ranked on top for years.

This is a graph I created of the scores of NBA scores between the 1979-80 to 1989-90 season. It appears higher scoring games happened in the earlier part of the decade
