Viginia Tech's Collin Gaj entered the NCAA tournament as the 4 seed after a really nice showing at ACC's and well, the entire season if I'm being honest. In his path to become an All-American stood Cornell's Jaxon Joy. Collin uses a version of the Win-Dixie against Joy that's different from the one Jason Nolf popularized, and in my opinion, is stronger and more controlled, but you'll have to watch until the end of the video to see what I'm talking about. I won't be giving any tips on how to defend what he does. Nope. Good luck. A Lehigh Valley guy, one of my long-time students, I wanted to detail at least one of his matches at NCAA's and what more fitting than this one. One of my favorite wrestling photos ever. We took this between the week of Big Ten’s and NCAA’s in 2001 as a more real look into who we were day in and day out as college wrestlers. I just thought it would be a good keepsake. I never knew it would become an annual Illinois tradition. But this is the original, 25 years ago. Hell of a lot of wins and successful college careers in this photo. Miss these days and these guys. Disappointed in the number of medical forfeits this round. Used to be a round of warriors. Almost no forfeits. And yes, I wrestled in this round so I've been there and I know how tired and beat to shit you are. On top of that, we were on match 35-40 for the season.

I just saw a ref wait 2 seconds to call a take down. We are supposed to award the offensive wrestler. If the defensive wrestler gets taken down then he should have had better defense to avoid being taken down. Reaction time is a joke.

One guy(Jax) was 1-0, two were 1-1(Blaze & Davino), & one was 0-1(Seidel). Not saying I agree or disagree but thats how he explained it.

I'll admit I'm not a seeding expert with the way they do the matrix but I'd like to hear the explanation on Forest over Davino. - One guy wrestled a whole season, beat a lot of good guys. Avenged is only lost to the number one guy at the conference tournament and won the toughest conference. - Another guy is amazing but only wrestled the second half of the season, with his top win over #4 Can Forrest win it? 100%. I thought he would be the number two seed. I just don't see how he deserves number one over DeVino or Blaze if he would have won the Big Ten. These types of seeds are nonsensical to me.

@WrestlingJunki6 He’s undefeated and beat the 4 and 5 seed. The 2 and 3 seed both have losses and never wrestled the 4 and 5 seed. That’s why Jax is the number 1 seed. He has the quality wins criteria over the 2 and 3 seed.

The NCAA seeding committee just told everybody that most of the regular season means absolutely nothing. Jax Forrest is the 1 seed at the national tournament with a record of 13-0. I believe that is wrong.
