My wife's boyfriend has a job running an experimental nuclear reactor in Trieste. Last month the reactor began to overheat. Meltdown was imminent. The explosion would have destroyed half of Italy, Slovenia and Austria. Just when they were all on the brink of despair, a brown man—likely a refugee—appeared, and quickly performed complex nuclear engineering to bring the reactor under control. When they tried to award him Italy's highest civilian honour, the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, he refused and simply said, "This is my culture. In my village, we repair nuclear reactors for free." And yet the working-class right-wing bigots never hear about this type of thing.
