The Odyssey was very good, just under Nolan's best. Maybe Matt Damon's best acting, and most of the cast in general did great (including Zendaya and Nyongo, btw, for the little they were in it). The spectacle was terrific, and the monster bits were a good mix of terrifying and mysterious. Yes, a bit of the casting was pandering bullshit, especially Elliot Page (who just was not believable as some great warrior to the point that it was distracting). The scene that took me out of it most was not that though, it was: "We are Greeks from Ithaca." *local islander responds in [modern] Greek* "What did he say, translate that!" It was the only bit of Greek in the whole movie, and the "Greeks from Ithaca" didn't understand it? Not sure why they even put that in. And if you are going to, may as well do ancient Greek. But maybe it distracted me more because I am fluent in modern Greek. Anyway, overall, the movie was pretty great. People claiming it is terrible or scoring it 3/10 or some shit are doing so for culture war reasons it seems. You should stop listening to clowns like that. They are not intellectually honest, and declared war on this movie before they saw it. Then pretended to hate it when they did. It's OK to criticize the woke bits (which are a tiny part of the film, btw), but admit that the movie overall is good. You aren't betraying your "team." (Now, if someone really is just a very tough critic snd decides they don't like it, that's different of course. I'm just talking about "woke right" twitter, basically.) I'd say go see it on the biggest screen you can. 8/10.
