After Durant, Thompson, Sengun, Reed, and Jabari, the Rockets' roster is:
- FVV (injured)
- Steven Adams (injured)
- Clint Capela (can't shoot)
- Josh Okogie (can't shoot)
- Tari Eason (liability atm)
- Aaron Holiday (limited min.)
- Jeff Green (older)
- Dorian Finney-Smith (liability atm)
- Jae'Sean Tate (meh)
You can't win in the modern NBA with only 5 solid players, especially if only 2.5 out of the 5 of them can shoot consistently.

“This organization is a hot mess. This whole rebuild is a failure. Fire everyone.”
Nor is it:
“If not for Fred VanVleet and Steven Adams, they’d be at the top of the West right now.”
It’s more nuanced:
Yes, they’ve made mistakes. The rebuild has been generally pretty competent, but they need to make changes this summer, and the answers go beyond “just get everyone healthy and run it back next year”.

If I were to diagnose what went wrong this season (in order): 1) Injury (Adams, FVV, DFS, etc…) 2) Lack of offensive imagination 3) Lack of spacing/handling 4) Mistake to double down on bigs 5) Weak bench 6) Defense declined - particularly at point of attack and at the rim

@beltwayboyz Yes I’m watching a team that still has promising young players. They are flawed but to act as if it’s the end of the world and they all suck is crazy. They have $40 million dollars sitting on the bench, out for the season. That matters too.

Losses like tonight’s make the Giannis trade feel inevitable. At least this time, I’ll have months to talk myself into it. We didn’t get that benefit back in 2020 regarding Russ, who I similarly despised at the time, maybe even more than I do Giannis right now.

@Clay_HTXSports It’s a lot of bad luck too with the injuries of Adams, FVV and DFS not being good after ankle surgery. Thing is they didn’t have to sign all of these Ime type of wings and centers. Ime can’t be influencing roster decisions and be this bad at coaching.
