I’ve told my girlfriend over and over that I hate crockpot food. The smell lingers, everything turns mushy, and it feels like my entire kitchen gets hijacked for eight hours straight. So when I walked in and saw cinnamon apple slices slow cooking like she was running a fall themed candle store out of our house, something in me snapped. She kept saying it was just a snack and that I was overreacting, like I hadn’t already made my stance clear multiple times. The lid was fogged up, the apples were bubbling, and she was way too proud of it. It felt like she was daring me to accept it, like my opinion was just background noise while the crockpot did whatever it wanted. I grabbed the lid and slammed it down harder than I needed to. The glass shattered instantly, apples ruined, lid destroyed, and the whole thing went silent. She just stared at it, then at me, like she couldn’t believe I actually did that over something so small. I told her if I say I don’t like crockpot food, that should mean something. Now the crockpot is sitting there useless, the snack is gone, and the kitchen feels way colder than before. She’s upset, I’m annoyed, and somehow I’m the one being looked at like I crossed a line. All I wanted was to not live in a house that smells like simmering fruit, but now I’m realizing that breaking the lid didn’t end the argument, it just turned it into something bigger that isn’t going away anytime soon. It’s the verbiage that says you have to have an id that matches your birth certificate- a lot of married women have changed their names so their id doesn’t match. There is no verbiage in the law about marriage licenses.

So when Democrats use IDs to keep their events safe and secure, it’s fine — not racist. But when Republicans want to pass the SAVE America Act that would do the same to secure our elections, suddenly it’s a problem? @SenOssoff and @SenSchumer have some explaining to do.

As a Black man who voted for President Trump, I sat back and reflected on the video everyone is calling racist. This may disappoint a lot of people. I may lose followers for saying this. But I have to be honest. I still stand with Donald Trump. I’m not saying this because he’s president. I’m not saying this just because we took photos together. I’m saying this because I have personally sat down with him. I’ve spoken with him. He treated me like a brother. Like family. With kindness and respect. That’s something you cannot fake. And long before politics, he was embraced by many in the Black community. Oprah. Al Sharpton. People spoke highly of him for years. For years, people have pushed the narrative that he’s racist. They even claimed there was a tape of him using the N-word. It’s been nearly a decade, and that tape has never appeared. At some point, you have to ask if people are more interested in taking him down than telling the truth. People also keep leaving out the context. That clip wasn’t even the purpose of the video — it was part of a screen recording about election issues. But that didn’t stop people from rushing to label him something I know, from my own experience, he is not. I’m not going to let anyone pressure me into believing something I know isn’t true. So I’m standing where I stand. And if you can’t respect that I’m speaking from personal experience and honesty, you’re free to unfollow me.

Statement on Video Depicting the Obamas I just spoke directly with President Trump regarding the offensive Obama ape video that circulated online. The President assured me clearly and unequivocally that he did not post it. He understands the painful and racist history in America of depicting African Americans as apes, a tactic long used by white supremacists to demean Black intelligence and humanity. He knows this is wrong, offensive, and unacceptable. The President made it clear to me that this post was made by a staffer and not by him. My recommendation to the President was direct and firm. That staffer should be fired immediately, and the President should publicly condemn this action. This kind of insensitive and racist communication does not reflect the heart, values, or leadership of the President of the United States, nor does it represent the America we are striving to build. Historically, the intelligence of Black Americans has been questioned and attacked in shameful ways. From the era of slavery, when enslaved Africans were falsely portrayed as inferior to justify bondage, to the Civil War, when Black Union soldiers were often denied officer ranks despite bravery and leadership, to the Jim Crow era, where racist pseudoscience compared Black people to animals in textbooks, cartoons, and propaganda. Even into the modern era, these same ugly stereotypes have been recycled to undermine Black achievement, leadership, and dignity. Racism must be confronted, not excused. Accountability matters. And leaders must always speak clearly when lines are crossed. #SpiritualDiplomat
