The UK’s cheapest Council Tax is in Wandsorth, London, where a band D property will pay approximately £969 a year. The next cheapest is in Westminster at £975. After that it is Shetland Isles at £1,261. Nottingham is £2,530 Council Tax is a tax for the poorest.

@David__Osland At what point do the Green Party realise you CANNOT dictate what a private company pays their employees. If you try, no company will operate in the UK.

Under the Greens' 10:1 pay ratio policy, bosses could still pay themselves £1m a year by putting everyone else on £100k. Sounds fair enough to me.

@robprogressive For pot holes, Vehicle Excise Duty brings in £9 billion annually. Council Tax should go no where near fixing pit holes as VED should be used solely for all road repair & maintenance.

@danielgoyal You sought independence in a once in a generation referendum 12 years ago. Did not know a generation was this short! Plus Westminster have repeatedly said NO to another referendum, so seems pointless constantly talking about it?

Scotland hasn’t voted for a right wing government since 1955 Yet since then we have spent 47 years under right wing rule Now we are facing being ruled by a far right UK Party…. despite voting overwhelmingly for a socialist party. Do you blame us for seeking Independence?

🚨BREAKING: The First Minister of Scotland says the SNP would set MAXIMUM prices for essential food items – including bread, milk, cheese, eggs and rice – using public health powers on nutritional grounds. Who else thinks Starmer should do the same in England and Wales?

the 10:1 thing is funny because the lowest amount any CEO could be on is like £250,000 a year which yes is an obscene amount of money for anyone, so everyone should get a fucking grip about it as a policy

@Heccles94 Like it or not Defence spending HAS to get to 5% of GDP and that money has to come from somewhere. Would you prefer it comes from Edication or the NHS or that the govt actually tackle the wholly unsuitable welfare spend

Seen as people are demonising those on benefits, let’s talk about the £Ms given to MPs like Farage & Lowe for their rent/mortgage, energy bills, food, travel, basically anything you can think of. So GREED is acceptable & NEED is not? I’d rather kids get free lunch than greedy MPs

@RichardBurgon Serious question. These are publicly traded companies, so where does the money come from to buy the requisite amount of shares required to cause a buyout & what happens if current shareholders don't want to sell?

Yorkshire Water is to pay out £2.35 Million after a series of pollution incidents. Our water system is a total scandal. Private firms have turned our rivers into open sewers, while hiking costs and handing billions to shareholders. Bring water back into public ownership!

@clairebubblepop Underfunded?? The issues are many. Waste is a big one. The other is population increase. If the UK population is increasing by 0.5-1% per annum, then the amount of money, staff, ambulances, beds etc... all have to increase by at least this amount or by definition it gets worse

Right so now the NHS is failing because of migrants apparently. Do fuck off. It’s because it’s underfunded, understaffed and they’re underpaid. The govt would rather pay agencies for work because they back business and obviously their own coffers. Fucking stop lobbying!

I am afraid that Ian Duncan Smith simply hasn’t grasped the main issue. We will not persuade other countries to leave their fossil fuels in the ground if we try to extract every last molecule of oil and gas from the North Sea.

Shelling out at the garage to repair pothole damage is no joke - I should know. That's why we're investing record funding to fix Britain's roads, and introducing tough new standards to make sure road users see the difference. thesun.co.uk/motors/3883046…

@justaphag6 Shows how out of touch the Greens are if they actually think you can legislate what a private company can pay anyone. The economy will be decimated as no one will operate a business here.
