BOOMER UNCLE: “Companies can’t afford to keep raising salaries.”
ME: “The CEO got a $11 million bonus that same year.”
Loyalty is a value.
But it was never meant to be a financial strategy.
Companies stopped being loyal to workers decades ago.
Nobody told the workers to stop expecting it in return.

Let's do the actual math nobody wants to show you.
$85,000 salary. $54,000 after taxes depending on your state.
$4,500/month take home.
Rent: $1,900. Car: $520. Insurance: $180. Utilities: $160. phone: $85. Groceries: $380. Student loans: $340.
You have $935 left.
and then your boomer parents tells you to be more disciplined.

@600poundeadlift @NaithanJones Weird, you can do both. Was more than happy to spend some time with family and get a free vacation while away at college 🤷♂️
English

@NaithanJones Let’s be real most young adults aren’t trying to go on a vacation with Daddy more than like once a summer. When I was in college you had a few of the girls without fake IDs that would go on spring break with their parents but everyone’s looking to turn up with the beach crowd.

Older people generally understand that the plumber making $150k a year is a myth

Only 7% of parents of Gen Z-ers said they would prefer it if their child pursued a trade or vocational program, per NYT.

@XfinitySupport
Explain to me how you refuse to connect me to a human because my service is down? How does that make any sense?

@OGwilikers @Tonysmarkettips Buddy I drive all around the middle of nowhere Midwest for work and half the time the interstates/county roads are empty. Sometimes I just change a damn lane. Any other questions or concerns?
English

@BearDahnChi @Tonysmarkettips Why would u ever change lanes without a turning signal?

Noteworthy details about Matt Miller’s accident
-His final tweet before the accident was at 1:26 p.m. on June 17. The accident occurred less than 2.5 hours later at 3:50 p.m.
-Miller was driving a 2023 Ford Bronco, which has many models that have lane assist features which operate unless turned off by the driver. The base trim of the vehicle doesn’t come with lane assist, but does have pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking.
English

@Tonysmarkettips It’s a toggle button on the wheel. Could accidentally be turned off for sure, but more likely to be turned off by choice imo.
English

@BearDahnChi Thanks for sharing this. Easy to turn it off by accident or must be intentional?

Anyone who thinks their seasonal depression caused by early sunsets in the winter isn't considering driving to work/school in darkness.
No matter what time standard you adopt, there will always be the same amount of daylight hours.*

@JohnBishop71 More evening sun in winter or 5a sunlight in Summer?

Are your kids playing outside at 5pm or 6pm in January either way? Safety in the dark mornings should be a concern.
Jackson Purdie@JacksonPurdie
@rstanzel Why is it bad for kids? They currently get 2 minutes of sun before school and no sun after school. With this change, they’d get no sun before school and an hour of sun after school.
