@foxfoxboyboy "TF2 but decluttered and un-modernized" is a great concept but nobody wants to actually go back to 2007-2009 TF2 as it was.
Only removing the garish / identity altering cosmetics, bad maps, and adding some quickplay esque system would have kept more players.

people who want to play tf2 will play tf2. if they want to play "slightly different tf2" they will play tf2c. there is no room for a dozen slightly different tf2s.
