@Valtricae @Eschlastic Vocês colocam como um mistério toda parte dos decretos de eleição e reprovação, e não vão diferir entre a Graça ofertada ao eleito e ao réprobo. Cremos com Agostinho que a Graça é resistível, até que Deus não queira mais que seja.

@BeatusGerhard The quote that is attributed to Martin Luther is: "We are saved by faith alone, but the faith that saves is never alone." Martin Luther did not say those precise words, but he did say something similar that has that meaning. The concept is true and clear, at least to Lutherans.

"Works are necessary to salvation, but they do not cause salvation, because faith alone gives life. On account of the hypocrites we must say that good works are necessary to salvation. It is necessary to work. Nevertheless, it does not follow that works save on that account, unless we understand necessity very clearly as the necessity that there must be an inward and outward salvation or righteousness." — St. Martin Luther, The Disputation Concerning Justification, 1536 (arg. 6)

@logos_asarkos I've read it and I agree that we should generally avoid ambiguous language. But its not impious to say good works are necessary for salvation in a proper occasion (just like its not always impious and nestorian to say St. Mary is Mother of Christ)
