After leading 41 training sessions, visiting 27 schools and working with thousands of teachers since January, I think I’ve got a fairly good handle on the mood in the profession. Here’s what I’ve observed. Everyone is working flat out. Harder than they’ve ever worked before.

@julsie75 @BeckRSaunders My last reply to you. Yes. And it’s rubbish. Excursions are privileges. Not a right. They are just to consolidate learning. Parents can take their kids. Swim school: up to parents to teach their kids/take their kids to swimming lessons. Not schools.Have a great day.

State schools are now forced to cancel traditional Year 6 excursions to Canberra. An important piece on the insidious entrenchment of our two-tier education system. You have a mandate now @AlboMP @JasonClareMP, please reduce private school funding, it just isn’t fair. #Auspol

@julsie75 @BeckRSaunders Actually Jules, you’re the expired yoghurt. We’re talking about a Canberra camp. How do you expect any Govt to lower prices for, say, a (private) bus company, hotel stay, entry to places etc???? And actually no they’re not. Most camos are…….. privately owned and run.

Or do you believe the funding they receive from the federal government pays for those facilities - keeping in mind funding cannot be used for capital expenditure

@Lee_AnneWalker @AlboMP @JasonClareMP I dont know at what point this happened but Australia has become a classist system where the divide has never been more apparent. If you can afford it your kids will get premium facilities whilst the rest resort to praying and beginning for quality education.

The Manosphere documentary was incredible viewing. As a teacher, seeing how easily influenced young men are, it’s deeply disturbing seeing who they may be looking up to. Thought Louis did a great job giving the guests enough to show how weak they actually are. I’d be devastated if my boys looked up to those kind of people.

Manosphere is chilling. Those men don’t actually believe women deserve respect or safety. The only thing stopping them going further with abuse is the fact some things are illegal. And they’re building huge audiences of young boys online. We’re in very dangerous times, women.

@SJM18T @FplMode we can only hope he does - bc I can barely get through the curriculum in time for the final exam - @louistheroux can come & film me struggling to teach an over crowded curriculum & getting the kids to understand it & apply it to unfamiliar contexts on a high stakes exam.

@FplMode I hear, for his next documentary, Louis is going to make a film about how unbelievably un-diverse the world views of teachers are and how often they use their roles to push their agenda on young minds.

A return via Bahrain is looking less & less likely to happen anytime soon… …so today Mel managed to find & buy flights back on 27th March via Istanbul …now Mel has just found flights for tomorrow via Maldives & Italy that hopefully get us home on Friday! Booked & packing 🙌
