A heat index of 105 and millions without power in Southeast Texas. But some of y'all keep acting like it doesn't matter who's in charge. I've covered hurricanes and Texas leadership for decades so I can tell you: It matters.
@mcribluv@CurtisHouck@Grady_Trimble Simply just canceling the interest & crediting all payments that have been paid towards interest to the principle, then making all student loans interest free for life - would do a lot for most people. My loans have capitalized $47k in a 60k principle since I took them out.
FBN’s @Grady_Trimble: “Just wanted to follow up on the student loan debt forgiveness.”
KJP: “Yeah.”
Trimble: “In the announcement, the undersecretary of education said, ‘we congratulate those borrowers on their due forgiveness.’ I'm just wondering why people who take out a loan to go to school, then go to school — why are they due forgiveness?”
KJP: “Everybody has a different story as to why they need student loans. Everybody has different reasoning as to why they want to go to college. I cannot speak for everyone. What I — but —”
Trimble: “But why is forgiveness due to them?”
KJP: “— what we’re — what we have been very clear about is the system — the student loan system needs to be fixed. The President is trying to do that and fix it in a way where people are not feeling that crushing financial burden that they have to — they deal with when they leave college —”
Trimble: “And —”
KJP: “— and that is something that they shouldn't have to. They should be given a little bit of breathing room.”
@SeanJeddrie@kneis816@MJTruthUltra I don't regret my degree. I made the best choice for school that I could make if I wanted to finish before he retired. He used his GI Bill for his degree. When my loans were disbursed out I didn't know. That's the way things are now. I took the bare minimum for my degree.
@BeckyTXSLP@kneis816@MJTruthUltra And you didn’t think that sounded sketch?
My loans had a straight up 8% , and. I knew s total payoff amount from the get go.
You made an unwise choice. And his GI Bill didn’t assist?
The Biden Administration Cancels an additional $7.7 billion in Student Loans
I’m confused… Can someone explain to me like I’m 5, how exactly the Biden Administration is allowed to do this, even though the Supreme Court ruled against this?
They are basically using tax payer money to bribe voters for his election…
And newsflash… the debt doesn’t just magically vanish… it’s simply being transferred to Tax-Payers who didn’t go to an Ivy-League School.

@SeanJeddrie@kneis816@MJTruthUltra Unlike most, my degree is relevant and needed but unfortunately we don't get paid well. I don't regret my degree, I just wish I could have gone to a cheaper school. My loans are my responsibility but the loans are predatory with what is charged in interest.
@SeanJeddrie@kneis816@MJTruthUltra First of all I'm paying my student loans and yes you do sound like one. I actually took a second job to make my $1100. If I wanted the degree then yes I did because of his service. My degree is not at every university.
@SeanJeddrie@kneis816@MJTruthUltra After loans were federalized, they estimate what payments are but can't give you a payment until you go into exit counseling because the interest rates are adjusted annually based on interest rates. Interest rates right now are 6.4% with daily compounding interest.
@SeanJeddrie@kneis816@MJTruthUltra Well if I wanted the degree, I had to sign the loan docs because my grad program was $70,000 at a state school because I had to pick a school that would be near my husband's duty station. Had I known at the time how bad the ROI would be, I wouldn't have done it.
@SeanJeddrie@kneis816@MJTruthUltra Actually no, the terms were not spelled out because the interest rate is not set until repayment starts so because my degree requires a masters to be able to work as a speech therapist helping individuals communicate, my loans did not start repayment until 7 years after I started
@MJTruthUltra Yes and what they are not saying but what I understand is that all that forgiveness now becomes income to pay taxes on. I could be wrong but that's what I have heard.
@SeanJeddrie@kneis816@MJTruthUltra Because interest of 6.5 percent compounds daily. I took a second job just to pay my $1100 a month student loan in a medical field.
The library just finished a 2-year long project to help our staff/students have a better browsing experience.
🌟Forward facing books!
🌟Colorful signage (matches the spine labels of books)!
🌟New shelf labels throughout the library!
This was a labor of love, but so worth it!
It's that special time of year again, Districtwide Of the Year announcements have begun! Let's give a round of applause to Cayla Solis from @CimarronElem, our Speech Language Pathologist of the Year!
Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!🎉
#OfTheYear
Students jokingly ask “were you around back then,” when discussing history. Beating them to the punch, I have now placed myself in every major event of US History in one slide a day. It’s now their mission (like Waldo), to “find Nesossi.” 🤣😂🤣 Such fun!
What flavour would you least expect waterdrop® to release? 😇
Leave your guesses below, because we're about to DROP some news you'll be very excited about!
Thanks @katyisd Secondary SLPs for hosting Laurie Streder and me today! I hope you enjoyed diving more into how to serve speech students at the secondary setting! Wishing you a great 23-24 school year!
