I just like and retweet, mostly but sometimes leave smart ass funny comments, a boring follow for the most part.

@TSmith1867 I agree. Even the battery operated ones fail now and they were once a lifetime purchase.

@BeefMcQueen These are hardwired. Not commercial grade though. But why can't a homeowner have a safe reliable smoke detector?? My house has MY family and pets inside it. KIDDE has got to do better for what you pay.

@landofthe80s Not only do I remember what each key is for, I remember the rules on how to decode the keys. There are six cuts, you can never have more than two depths between cuts and the cuts will always add up to an even number.

@TSmith1867 Hardwired commercial detectors last 30-40 years at least until they become incompatible with the fire panel software.

Wow, not even close to a year old, 4 of 7 kidde detectors decided to go out with a fault chirp every 60s .. Brand new batteries do nothing to solve the problem. What an amazing world we live in today, buying something of quality is literally impossible. 🙄

Ok. I wanted some funnel cake fries and a Dr. Pepper. No, I’m not proud of it. But look where the @DoorDash driver put my drink. Couldn’t open the door without knocking over my $4 Dr Pepper. Damn.

@TSmith1867 @JohnLeePettim13 @Sotacor I replaced my 1960’s fuel oil furnace with a high efficiency gas furnace in 2008. It didn’t save me much money at all and fuel oil makes better heat.

@JohnLeePettim13 @Sotacor Traditional gas furnaces is easier to fix. Better parts availability. Now, my mom still is running her 40 yo gas furnace, no electronics. Simple. Ask why new furnaces only last 10 to 15 years.. thats what actually sucks here.🫤

Ok so I did some digging on heat pumps and what the costs would be to install, and run in northern Canada where winters see many -20 days. Here's the breakdown: 1600 sq ft. house with a full basement. First off you would need a dual fuel system, i.e. forced gas furnace plus heat pump. Costs for installation and pump: Usually needs a 4–5 ton variable-capacity cold-climate unit. Lower end (~$14k–$18k): Good existing ducts, no major electrical panel upgrade, straightforward install. Higher end ($20k–$25k+): Duct modifications needed, electrical service upgrade (common in older homes), or more complex basement/main-floor zoning. Typical range: $14,000 – $25,000 CAD (all-in, including labour, permits, and minor duct/electrical work). Cost to run: Effective all-in rate (with delivery, transmission, etc.): Usually 14–17 ¢/kWh during high winter usage. Running: $350–$650/month in peak winter months on electricity. Hybrid i.e. gas furnace plus heat pump keeps annual costs lowest. Payback vs. keeping/replacing just a gas furnace is usually 10–15+ years unless gas prices rise sharply or you get strong incentives. So lets look at this realistically: Cost for install 20K+ $400-650 a month in winter to run it + gas costs. Payback 10-15 years. These are real world costs/numbers not some bullshit propaganda the government or online idiots are spewing. Is it worth it in cold climate Canada or better to just keep and run your natural gas furnace ? You be the judge.

American was ordering DoorDash from Gibson’s Steakhouse in Chicago On the app it asks if you would like to add a carrot cake. It’s $23.50 for the slice. It seems expensive but she ads it anyway This is what she received… It’s a House made Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting and Walnuts I found the reason for this shocking situation is because the steakhouse is known for oversized, old-school steakhouse portions According to reviewers online it’s well worth it and people say it’s very good tasting I’d recommend only ordering this if you’re with a group of people Personally I think this is actually a pretty good value, but the price does seem shocking at first if you’ve never seen it
