It's time to s**t or get off the pot, @wamu885: Either you guys make @dcist's extensive story archive public and accessible forever more, or you donate it to someone who will.

Recall that the last time @dcist was shut down, back in 2017, its billionaire owner briefly nuked the site's archives. But even then he relented and put them back up. @wamu885 really doesn't want to be worse than an angry billionaire, does it?

Selfishly, I have literally thousands of @dcist stories that I may never again have access to. While I can personally suck it up, it's unfair to the public for @wamu885 to essentially kill off years worth of stories by so many other reporters. It's digital arson.

UNREAL. The folks at @1a, which is produced by @wamu885, say they asked the station's leaders if they would work to retain @dcist's extensive story archive, which dates back years. They... got no response. "If a digital archive disappears... that is a true loss," says @kellymcb.
