@nilansaha We have a few customers running Bare Metal from Hetzner on Cycle.io recently we've been looking to migrate them to Cherry or Latitude, though. Latency seems fine it's the customer support that is falling apart IMO.

Does anyone actually use bare metal servers from Hetzner for worldwide customers? Curious how the latency is looking in real world use cases.

@alkadaemon If youre in the evaluation phase, cycle.io is a great option. The platform gives a Heroku-like experience with easy deploy options into your cloud of choice. happy to answer more questions!

This makes me quite sad. Railway has served us very well but it's not a good look when the CEO is drinking deep from the AI kool-aid and these kinds of problems happen more frequently than before. :( Will explore @northflank - anyone use them before?
Vedad Šoše@vedadsose

After a month of weekly outages, @Railway has now managed to serve cached API responses across users exposing personal data between accounts. This isn't a minor hiccup. We're moving on.

this one might be the final straw, i don't need features every fuckin friday, need a stable service where i can host my projects. at this point, self hosting will be much safer. dissapointed @Railway

I love @Railway. Been a happy customer for 5 years. But today a caching misconfiguration let users see and act as other users. Names, personal data, medical info leaked between customers. This after weeks of almost daily incidents. It's time to switch. Alternatives?

@alexhooketh Cycle.io + Vultr's VMs = ❤️ may be worth checking out, we provide a nice PaaS-like experience to manage VMs/VPSes so you can get the best of both worlds

i’ve used 5 serverless providers including @Railway now and had random issues on prod on 5/5 of them i’ve only hosted production projects on cheap VPSs before that and had random issues on prod exactly 0 (zero) times i definitely have to switch back

@piotrpliszko Cycle.io is a good option for those who want to maintain control over infrastructure but dont care to get into low level DevOps decisions. We cater to those who just want to ship good code fast. Happy to answer any questions

I really like @Railway but I was reconsidering using their platform after a constant technical issues recently. But honestly the breaking point is this incident. We all know that shit happens, and I really appreciate Railway team handling communication around this issue seriously, but it doesn't really change the fact that the loss of trust is real. I am outsourcing my infra and pay premium to it to have peace of mind - and that seems to not be a case anymore. I wonder how this will turn out for the company - apparently some Railway customers have legal issues because of that. It's honestly hard to justify sticking with Railway anymore. Nice UX alone is not worth it, so it seems I will be cancelling my Pro subscription and looking elsewhere. Maybe it's time to revisit @levelsio approach and just go back to simple VPS.

I’ve had issues with @railway since the beginning of this year. I freely promoted this platform for years but I’ve moved my major apps off because they had too many issues lately. So glad I did this, we’re currently going through pen testing and this would have been horrible

@_swanson If you're still in exploration mode, @CyclePlatform could be a good option. Byoinfra, takes care of everything else, i.e., Routing, Scheduler/cron, Console / SSH / one-off runs, "Building a container image", Env var management, Custom ACM certs and more!

You really don't appreciate Heroku until you look at other platforms. Just kicking the tires on Fargate + ECS and realizing Heroku is also handling: - Routing - Scheduler/cron - Console / SSH / one-off runs - "Building a container image" - Env var management - Custom ACM certs

@bcardarella I no longer support Fly given their practices around soc2. Likely moving to AWS ECS. All good will is gone for me.

@esotericmeans Better would be a tough statement. Most of Canada's bottom six could work into the top of Finland's. Luckier, more heart, better goalie, maybe? Definitely won't be winning much if you park the bus after 2 goals. Shots after the goals were virtually 0

@BemisKonner Valid point, but that's just one metric, I still feel they were the better team overall at least even. Canada lead for 35 seconds, never lead the game before, just about lost to Czechia.

I love hockey, but calling a penalty for an accidental high stick in the last 2 minutes of a tied game when you've not called penalties all game long is crap. Finland was the better team this game, it should be in overtime at a minimum. Terrible referee call.

I am not exaggerating when I say this is probably the worst technical comms I have ever seen, in no small part because I pay Heroku tens of thousands of dollars a year and I am learning about this through a post on X The Everything App.

@heroku I set up Heroku for one of my clients a long time ago. Should I keep it like this or move to another provider? Not clear at all what you are saying

Heroku
Heroku@heroku·
Heroku is transitioning to a sustaining engineering model focused on stability, security, reliability, and support. Heroku remains an actively supported, production-ready platform, with an emphasis on maintaining quality and operational excellence rather than introducing new features. We know changes like this can raise questions, and we want to be clear about what this means for customers. There is no change for customers using Heroku today. Customers who pay via credit card in the Heroku dashboard—both existing and new—can continue to use Heroku with no changes to pricing, billing, service, or day-to-day usage. Core platform functionality, including applications, pipelines, teams, and add-ons, is unaffected, and customers can continue to rely on Heroku for their production, business-critical workloads. Enterprise Account contracts will no longer be offered to new customers. Existing Enterprise subscriptions and support contracts will continue to be fully honored and may renew as usual. Why this change We’re focusing our product and engineering investments on areas where we can deliver the greatest long-term customer value, including helping organizations build and deploy enterprise-grade AI in a secure and trusted way.

Anyone I know work at heroku by any chance? #heroku Any recommendation on providers? Leaning towards digital ocean as their egress cost is a lot lower.
