It’s not Arsenal the club or the players that many are hoping to see fail. It’s what Arteta has created. Hyper-coached, risk-averse, system football, repeatable patterns where total control is everything and spontaneity and individuality are discouraged. It’s incredibly effective, but for many fans it’s the opposite of why we fell in love with the game. It feels like football engineered, not expressed. And a lot of fans miss the mavericks, of which there are so few in the modern game.

Brilliant piece from @OllieHolt22 👇 This bit keeps coming back to me. "Many are still consumed by a strange kind of naked desperation for Arsenal to fail. That desperation seems to centre on Arteta more than any of his players, as if he has become a lightning rod for the schadenfreude of opposing fans and they cannot bear the idea that he is going to have the last laugh." Help me understand why the dislike (apart from the fact that winning gets seen often as suspicious in the UK, and that fans from other teams would use any stick available, no matter how flawed, to diminish a win from other clubs) But don't give me partisan lines, I would like some kind of sociological/psychological explanation (if possible)

Why Mikel Arteta deserves way more credit than he's getting for the job he's doing at Arsenal dailymail.co.uk/sport/football…

There’s a generation of us that the League Cup means so much to. Win at Wembley next month and a whole new generation will have the same affinity with it. In 1987 it started a run of success and gave us some of the best times of our young lives. Enjoy the moment, live the moment.

A pint or two in the Hare and Hounds last night. Great pub. But the same story as the other pubs — Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves don’t know how to run a business Reform UK this week pledged to slash VAT, business rates, the National Insurance tax hike, beer duty and regulation to give a major boost to local pubs like this one Why? Because it’s about the second word in our core message: ‘Family, Community, Country’ Without the local pub, community life falls apart Vote Reform UK, Get Rid of Starmer and put the people and pubs of Gorton and Denton first #gorton #denton #tameside
