It’s obviously not going to plan for Trump & Netanyahu so you just knew that this weekend would see a massive ratcheting up of the propaganda campaign to try and get us directly involved in their war of choice with Iran. So these sorts of headlines were very predictable. It’s Iraqi WMDs all over again. This time though I think - or at least I hope- most people are wise to it. As the old saying goes: ‘Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me’.

@Davidbr55025958 @Carolechapman17 Pensioners may have worked hard, but they did it at a time when wages were fair. An average worker could buy an average home for three times salary in 1970. If wages had kept pace with house prices since then, the average wage now would be £85K.

@SinoopyS @m0w4q45 In your analogy it’s a bank account that only ‘locks up’ when you’re trying to withdraw cash to buy drugs or pay a hitman. I think most people would be ok with that.

There is no point in us having bases we can't use when we need them. If you can't process the strategic and tactical nature of that, consider having a bank account that could lock randomly whenever you need it most... would that be a useful bank account? Obviously not. One would not use that bank. Would you use a car that didn't start if some third party didn't want you going to that location for some reason? Not a useful car. Etc. Not showing up is one thing but the blocking of access to the bases was just about fatal. I don't think you understand that that instantly reclassified the relationship with the UK. US war planning will now be required to cite any asset the UK controls as unreliable as it is literally unreliable... it can and will be literally denied our use arbitrarily when we need it most. That means safe UK bases are no longer safe. Period. There's no other way to look at it. I'm not upset and I'm not trying to be rude here. That is just reality. The only way to fix this quickly is to sign something to the effect that the UK will not do that again. I suspect you won't so that means there is no quick fix. Long term fix is going to be for the US "de-risking" out of UK bases... or buying them outright somehow as there is some interest to do with Diego Garcia.

I’m writing this because the sacrifice of British troops and the reality of what’s happening right now in the Middle East should not be rewritten for political theatre. Donald Trump claims Britain “joins wars after they’re already won” in the Iran conflict. Let’s talk facts. The United States and Israel launched major strikes on Iran that triggered the current war across the region. Britain chose not to rush blindly into offensive strikes, but we are already involved RAF jets operating over Jordan and Qatar, Royal Navy ships preparing for deployment, and British bases being used for defensive operations. That isn’t “joining late”. That’s called acting responsibly and protecting our own people and allies. Britain has stood with the United States for decades in Iraq, Afghanistan, and NATO operations across the world. We don’t need lectures about loyalty. Britain is an ally, not a subordinate and when British forces deploy, they do it for the right reasons, not for someone else’s political narrative.

@GaryMcleft @donmcgowan The biggest swing ever seen in a UK general election is 11%. Such a swing would give Reform around 140 MPs. This is fewer than half the number needed for Farage to be prime minister. The numbers are brutal and don’t lie. At a push they may become HM opposition then win in 2034.

When this latest conflict in the Middle East is over, historians will look back at the UK and ponder over several things. They’ll wonder why, in the first week of the war, the UK media, almost overwhelmingly, spent it attacking the Prime Minister. And why our patriotism was hijacked by the right-wing media to lambast our own government. How every channel was able to find ‘experts’ and historians to make fools of themselves and display extremely anti-British behaviour. And they wonder why the leader of His Majesty’s Opposition spent days of her life working against the country. Oh, and lastly, why the leader of a tiny minority party was in the USA, engaged in treason and traitorous behaviour with a foreign despot, to undermine our government. We're in such a messed up time, a branch of reality fabricated by the far-right and their pet media outlets. Whether you like Starmer or not, this is not the time to go after him. All that's unfolding is a crooked legacy being built around those who'd prefer to sell their souls and work against the country in a time of war. ✌️🖖

@Hettiewaynthrop @donmcgowan Most Iranians in the UK are those who fled the Ayatollahs immediately after the revolution or in the years since. If they are opposed to this war it is probably because, like most Britons, they don’t want to see civilians bombed to smithereens for no obvious strategic reason.

@donmcgowan What a typical response from the Left. Starmer won't get involved because he has been told not to upset any Iranians that are in the UK. It is that simple. Wake up.

There is nothing patriotic about outsourcing Britain’s foreign policy to Donald Trump. Kemi Badenoch and Nigel Farage want Britain to blindly follow Trump into his reckless war, even though the President has no plan for what comes next.

Spanish PM Pedro Sanchez has a message for UK PM Keir Starmer, "During these past few days, you will have heard people saying that Spain is alone" "No, those were the same people who told us, when we recognised the State of Palestine, that we were alone, and then everyone else followed" "No, we are not alone, we are the first. We are the first" "And I'll tell you more, I'll tell you more, we are already seeing it" "We are seeing how many other governments are already taking a stand against this war." "The ones who will end up alone are those who defend the indefensible"

POTUS, A few weeks ago you were imposing tarrifs on the UK? You were threatening NATO allies Greenland and Canada? Not that many weeks ago you were smirking, calling our soldiers and 'fallen' heros cowards. You were posting nonsense about free speech here in the UK. You were posting lies about lawless London? You were posting lies about Sharia law spreading across the UK? You were sharing lies about 'two tier policing'? I think it best for both our country's if you simply stick your 'special relationship' up your fat, wrinkly, orange arse @CNN @ABC @PBS @washingtonpost @nypost

Fact-check: Just 8% of Britons support UK involvement in the Iran war. The Telegraph, like the Mail, the Express, the Sun, GBNews, TalkTV, Kemi Badenoch and Nigel Farage, is lying to you. They just can’t help themselves.
