This sound bite from the @CoastGuardCAN is almost unbelievable. Thanks to Jenna Goodyear for posting this on Facebook. I’ve worked in the news industry for almost 20 years. I’ve lived in Newfoundland and Labrador for 10 years. When we report missing fishing vessels, the outcome is overwhelmingly poor. What happened very early this morning is incredible! The crew of the Elite Navigator was found safe in their life raft by the amazing people of all the search and rescue crews that were looking for them. The relief these men must feel, followed by the relief of their families, 7 familes, is probably indescribable. I am thrilled to hear this news.

We are getting reports on Social Media that the crew of the Elite Navigator has been found in a life raft, accounted for and alive!

Scott Reid has been sworn into cabinet. He’s now the Minister Responsible for Indigenous Affairs and Reconciliation. Reid is the Member for St. George’s - Humber. And previously was the Speaker of the House.

Elvis Loveless is now the Minister of Digital Government and Services. He was the Fisheries Minister.

It’s time for a provincial cabinet shuffle. 9 members of the Liberal Caucus are at Government House this afternoon. We’re about to hear who’s going where.

Fred Hutton is now the Minister of rural economic dev. and transportation and infrastructure. Hutton was in Housing before today.
