I love all my Canberra friends and contacts but one time someone really did tell me at a party that they’d just been promoted from EL1 to EL2 before adding, with an extremely serious expression, that this was of course strictly off the record

I would strongly caution against trying to both at the same time though, either at a BBQ or in the bedroom.

Christians should not be forced to have homosexual relationships if they don't want them. Muslims should not be forced to eat pork if they don't want it. If people want to eat pork or have gay sex or do both or do neither it's completely up to them.

It always amazes me that Lowry had only been dead two years by the time Brian & Michael had a hit with 'Matchstalk Men and Matchstalk Cats and Dogs'. At the time I'd assumed he'd been dead for many decades and I only found out fairly recently he died in 1976.
