The Neurolab @constructor_uni proudly presents Dr. @Hadisii20 Imani who successfully defended her thesis on 'Neurocognitive and psychological dimensions associated with gait and balance in older adults'. Thanks to the committee members @sonialippke and Claudia Voelcker-Rehage.

@nschawor I like the fact it spurs discussion on the topic although -> your points I would prefer more cleaning pipelines each dedicated to method, frequency, experiment type etc it cant be one for all

@DioVicen @TerrifyingQuest The brain can learn to re-interpret changed/false inputs but it is not able to add missing information to make the input signal usable. A minimum S/N ratio is necessary.

@LukeMillerNeuro @DioVicen Would be interesting to test in internal (top-down application of priors as learned representations) vs external encoders (bottom-up detailed evaluation of input and synthesis of percept).

@DioVicen I would say that if the measurement noise is really high, as I assume is the case in myopia, the person will rely more on their priors. Their perception will therefore be quite biased.

@BenGodde @plasticity_lab @Chris_I_Baker @matt_thomk @maimon_roni @ucl @WCHN_UCL @jenpgh @robert_gaunt1 I’d recommend you check out the comprehensive review article by @plasticity_lab and @blamlab in reference to all of your criticisms. This idea of extreme cortical reorganization in the adult brain is simply not well supported by existing data.

@BenGodde @plasticity_lab @Chris_I_Baker @matt_thomk @maimon_roni @ucl @WCHN_UCL @jenpgh @robert_gaunt1 @BenGodde Our findings are simply the final nail in the coffin of over 10 years of mounting motor/sensory, cross-sectional amputee studies on this topic — sealing the case against amputation induced large-scale cortical reorganization.

@BenGodde @plasticity_lab This is from Wikipedia: note adjacent region doing what it always did takes over. This is false widespread idea and not at all what you defined it as.

@blamlab @plasticity_lab Cortical reorganization is not necessarily anatomical reorganization (as is not re-mapping). In the literature I know it is nearly almost referring to functional reorganization (remapping). 'taking over' does not mean loss of previous but additionally also responding to.

@BenGodde @plasticity_lab “remapping, also referred to as cortical reorganization..When something happens to disrupt maps such as an amputation, map is no longer relevant.. part of brain that in charge of the amputated limb will be dominated by adjacent cortical regions that are still receiving input”

@blamlab @plasticity_lab The re in re-mapping just implies that the mapping (=association of activity distribution to incoming signals) is changed.

@itsPaulAi What happens to my data (and metadata) when using copilot? Will it be available for company analytics for the employer (allowing tracking of employees)? Will it be used by MS/AI or is copilot exclusively assessing publicly available data for its purpose?

Excel, PowerPoint and Word now have built-in AI. Copilot allows you to be much more productive without having to use ChatGPT. Here's a summary of the AI features you can use:

@SB_SergBell Depends on how you define free will. "Yes" if defined as preparing yourself so that even decisions under time pressure and automatic reactions are in accordance with your opinions and convictions.

@PessoaBrain Curious: just by chance that these patterns look exactly like the orientation preference maps found in the visual cortex with optical imaging - only on a larger scale?
