Crypto x AI in 2024 was a graveyard of tokenized wrappers and subsidized vaporware. The diagnosis was right, AI is centralized. But the prescription (tokenizing models and data) was wrong. The real bottleneck is the inability of existing blockchains to perform expressive computation.

expect to see way more dats become melting pots of other dats and become more ~fungible with each other. imo this 'forced' diversification may be one of the silent killers as dats nearing subpar mnav levels look to spring back. haircuts assigned to dats they scoop up will be wackier than you think. will see dats split into two buckets: one being a forced buyer of native yield (credit knockoff, i.e. @sharplink ) and the other functioning effectively as a native denominated coin fund (liquid knockoff, i.e. @BitMNR) you can already tell which dat will end up in what bucket, esp with these recent & upcoming sol ones. wouldn't be surprised if these emerging 'tvl' funds in the space end up being a relay for onchain vault protocols and market to the former category of dats re: stacking yield. could also build this dat<>vault relay directly on @ritualnet as a one-stop shop. on an unrelated note re: when (if) some of these dats mature to raising via converts, latter category of dats will find themselves in an odd spot cus as dispersion grows they're dampening the net vol which will be less attractive than the former category offering straight convexity of a single coin

@const_reborn largely agree. There's definitely a balance to be struck on timing - launching a token is not a substitute for finding PMF (if you're, say, a user-facing application) - but getting cold feet re: being associated with crypto means you're in the wrong game to begin with lol

I see a lot of crypto-AI projects reluctant to launch their tokens because they’re trying to “boil the frog” — warm up a community to the idea that crypto is involved in their business model, but afraid of the impending stigma blowout of involving “crypto”. I think this is a foolish plan. Once our field becomes legitimized (inevitable) it’s already too late. If you’ve not been accelerating in the direction of understanding how crypto economics work all this time, you’ll be eaten up by the bigger players when they choose to “legitimize” it. Also just feels like a sleight of hand, inauthentic, bad faith, to pretend or dance around the core tech. After 4 years of doing this, I can just say flat out, the incentives in decentralized AI are more important than the surface level tech.
