i’ve had the chance to spend time with many of the sharpest builders and investors while building @overdotcomputer in the past few months. when I think of someone who is truly intelligent in 2026, the definition doesn’t feel the same as it used to. let me try to explain. for a long time, being intelligent meant being quick at understand things, speak multiple languages, doing fast math and even more vain like working/going to a well-known company (in some case for a few months lol), ivy league schools, etc. a lot these has been debunked in the past years. getting into top schools and/or workplaces are often a function of access, environment, and network. even things like language ability or mental math are, to a large extent, a function of memory, repetition, and training. they matter, but they are specific skills, not a full picture of intelligence. so it’s less that these things are wrong, and more that they were over-weighted as proxies because they were easy to measure and compare. now we live in the world that intelligence is becoming a commodity. if you could afford a few hundred bucks a month, you gain access to the smartest brain in the world through claude or chatgpt. benchmark like MMLU is still useful here as openai lets an llm take a test across areas like laws, medicine, social sciences, they are doing well even in broader knowledge category. this makes the intelligence as well as structured thinking no longer scarce like it once were. in a company-building journey, it’s getting easier than ever to find intelligent people in the traditional sense. people who can code, do math, design complex system, reason well, talk convincingly. that part is no longer the bottleneck. the harder part is finding the combination of intelligence with honesty and grit. honesty in being clear about what is true, what is uncertain, what is not working. and grit in staying with problems when they stop being interesting or easy. when those are missing, things don’t fail immediately, but over time you end up redoing work that should have been solid from the start. let's bring this back to crypto as we often talk about trustlessness. but that doesn’t mean trust disappears. it means we try to design systems that don’t rely on trust at execution. those systems still need to be designed by people, and if there is a lack of integrity there, it gets encoded into the system. take pump.fun as an example. it’s permissionless and trust-minimized at the execution layer, but people still lose money in predictable ways. part of that is trust in the builders, part of it is trust in the people launching tokens. the trust didn’t go away, it just moved and became harder to see. as tools get better, it becomes easier to build things that look impressive on the surface. more polished, more convincing, more intelligent. but that also makes it harder to tell what is actually well designed. so what I'm saying is that - as a user, as a builder, as an investor, you can’t rely on surface signals anymore. you have to look deeper at how things work underneath. find the core values of the designer, what incentives are in place. who benefits when things go wrong. in a world where intelligence is abundant, your own judgment becomes the real differentiator. not just being right, but being honest with yourself about what you’re seeing, and having the discipline to act on it. that matters now more than ever. appreciate you reading this far. especially if you’re not just sharp, but also honest and have real grit. if this resonates, would love to explore how we can work together to build a better way to trade at @overdotcomputer. my dm is open.
