I rarely 'reference' anything because there is rarely a clear-cut and authoritative source for the topics I am discussing. That is the problem with Destinty and his midwit acolytes. It is cargo cult behavior, where the aping of scientific research attempts to recreate that same level of accuracy and authority without the actual rigor and relevance that make science work. Even when clear facts do exist in politically contentious topics, say black American crime statistics for example, they can be endlessly handwaved away due to 'biases in collection', 'structural factors', 'cause and effect' and so on. Trying to add as many relevant and reasonably verifiable facts to a discussion is of course important, but merely linking things as a 'reference' is midwit, debatebro cargo cult behavior that Destiny and his merry band of Redditors excel at.
