Yesterday, I led members of the NBA @NigBarAssoc National Executive Committee on a courtesy visit to the esteemed Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Hon. Justice John Tsoho. Our discussions centered on enhancing our legal processes especially the adoption of e-filing and efficient online payment methods, and exploring strategies to improve case management and reduce court congestion. I was warmly received by the Chief Judge and his team, and our dialogue reaffirmed the deep interconnection between the bar and the bench. While the existing e-filing systems in Abuja and Lagos are commendable, we must continue to work together to ensure that our members are fully aware of and can take advantage of these digital tools. During our visit, we also discussed the importance of maintaining decorum in public commentary on judicial matters. I assured the Chief Judge that any instances of professional misconduct by lawyers would be promptly addressed through the NBA’s disciplinary channels. I am inspired by these interactions and remain dedicated to advancing the rule of law, strengthening our judicial system, and fostering a collaborative environment that benefits the entire legal community.
