In the matter of the bail application for Abronye, filed on 14th May, 2026, the case was originally allocated to Criminal Court 2. However, the Registrar took the docket away from Criminal Court 2 on Friday, 15th May, 2026.
Today, the Court Docket Session officers informed Counsel for Abronye that the case was fixed at Criminal Court 2, but Counsel was finally directed to General Jurisdiction 2 as the new place for the hearing of the case.
When the case was called, the Attorney General prayed for more time to respond to the bail application, although the application had been served on 14th May, 2026.
The application was adjourned; Abronye’s lawyer could not move the bail application because the Attorney General was not ready
Abronye remains in BNI custody.
What is happening to Abronye is unjust and unfair!!!

@kwameforson14 @AfenyoMarkin Lol...but they are also retaliating what happened in the past in equal measure?
English

@AfenyoMarkin We'll retaliate in equal measure. We won't forget

@Yaw_delah88 @gyaigyimii This is where he started from. And gradually brought in players who only had the potential(Robbo, mane, salah, wijnaldum,Trent etc).He improved Hendo, Lallana and firmino. The only marquee signing he made at Liverpool was Thiago Alcantara. Other managers inherited superstars

English

@charllycolegh You just shot yourself in the foot😂. You now know how it feels when you put down your political jersey. The anger you used to type this post when you thought it was Sam George who mismanaged the funds is equal to the anger Ghanaians used to vote in 2024.

@Yaw_delah88 @gyaigyimii Because he built his machine from scratch, he didn't get the luxury of a ready-made one

@gyaigyimii And you will be seeing him in convo with the likes of ancelloti 😂

@mister__abdul @KofiEducation Government? They are rather selling the lands to private developers
English

@KofiEducation If we don’t solve land ownership issues in Ghana, we should forget anything affordable, the price of the land alone will deter anybody from trying this venture. Govt needs to step in and acquire lands for public use, only then can we talk about affordable housing or hostels.
English

WHY HOSTELS ARE EXPENSIVE: INVESTOR FACTS, NO EMOTIONS.
To understand high hostel costs, set emotions aside. Only by understanding the dynamics can we find real solutions.
I’ve been doing hostels investments in Ghana for over 10 years now.
It costs about $2 million to build a standard 100 room hostel around Legon, Westlands, Haatso. If you use 3 plots, the land alone is around $600k.
To recoup your $2 million investment plus 50% ROI in 20 years, even at 2% compound interest rate and 15% operational cost, each room must go for about $2,300 a year.
These are 2 in a room with kitchen and bath. So, each student pays GHC14,000/year, excluding electricity to arrive at the $2,300 a room a year.
At this rate, stakeholders complain the charge is excessive and profiteering. They have a point by saying it unaffordable, but is pricing to recoup investment in 20 years profiteering?
Now, let’s look at other alternatives to a property investor:
If one decided to invest the same $2 million in building $350,000 4-bed town houses in the same area, they could build 8 townhouses in year 1, sell over a two year period for $2.8m, and make 40% ROI in 3 years.
Thats why you are seeing town houses and high rise apartments all over in Accra; not hostels.
Now, this is my question: If you had $2 million, would you put it into a business that takes 20 years to recoup with only 50% ROI?
The answer explains why there are not enough PPP hostels. Not because investors do not know how to build, but because the economics do not make sense on user terms.
If hostels should come cheap, then its pure GoG building with your taxes or concessional loans/grants ; not commercial loans.
When you see 7-8k/year 2 in a room hostels in Accra, know that those were built with public funding, not from a private commercial loan.
Yes, GETFund could have been building more hostels to solve this, but the reality is, with free SHS/secondary education consuming about 65% of GETFund, there is little left for academic and residential infrastructure.
