When I first started at X, this is one of the things I did a deep dive on because I felt it was critical to the integrity of the experienced. I tasked our Threat Disruption team to investigate a number of trends that seemed artificial. The findings: We could not find meaningful examples of foreign interference in US policy discussions, except people gaming rev share in developing countries. This is what motivated the release of the Country of Origin feature and significant changes to the rev share algorithm. The most deranged & divisive replies generally were from residential IPs in the United States—with no signs of using a VPN. Ultimately, X is a reflection of the internet. And that means you will see the full spectrum of human thought. And sometimes the most outrageous takes will catch fire. Having said all of this, there can still be cases of narratives being boosted but the origin of the initial post is almost always domestic and we have hardened our systems in the last 3 months to prevent this.

the one conspiracy i believe is that this place is full of bots programmed to say insane, incendiary things and they're funded by foreign organizations who want to divide americans and destabilize US society

@metoffice Coton in the Elms is a WMO class 4 temperature station which is directly impacted by its location giving temperatures 2°C+ hotter temperatures. Once again we see the met Office use compromised temperature data to push a narrative.

Temperatures peaked at 35.2°C today at Coton in the Elms, Derbyshire This means 2026 has now broken even more temperature records 🌡️

I'm actually pursuing litigation against a TOC for similar – in this case they failed to pay the correct amount of Delay Repay despite being given several opportunities, and they decided to make up (probably false) details about my travel to try and justify their actions.

@BenjaminEHowe The only time I've had a real problem with DR was on GTR, where they rejected a claim multiple times incorrectly. When I had a rant by email, I had a profuse apology and 3x the compensation in (cashable) travel vouchers. Dare I ask which TOC you had problems with?

@MartinSLewis It should be as easy to cancel as it is to sign up. If you can sign up online with a 5 minute form then you should be able to cancel online too.

Oh the irony. Virgin now proved to have been screwing the nation over broadband, and stopped people fixing. Nice to see Ofcom showing teeth with the fine. Lets hope that starts a trend.

@ScottingtonPost @DanNeidle @baba_Omoloro That's not really a viable option – e.g. the US will cancel your passport for more than ~$60k of tax debt. The IRS and the ATO also cooperate so the Australians can help enforce collection.
