Doomers genuinely sadden me and piss me off. They have a loser mentality, and won't even take the small victories. You know how the Left got institutional power? By doing what Trumps doing now; a slow, incremental push over generations.

@FrancosGhost "Drumpf isn't super duper Pro Life perfect Catholic candidate, so we have to fight him now because this will get us what we want! Don't you know the saying: 'the good is the enemy of the perfect'! We gotta just sit things out until our ideal candidate plops out of the sky!"

I’ve often believed that the Armenian Genocide is under studied and underreported in the west because: 1. The Young Turk CUP (Committee of Union and Progress) was blatantly progressive politically, which makes progressives today look bad. 2. It murdered orthodox Christians, few of whom live in the west. 3. It shows a Muslim genocide of Christians, which goes against those trying to portray a Muslim/Christian alliance. 4. It shows the bizarre alliance between leftism and Islam for evil gains 5. It shows a very educated and advanced Islamic society falling to barbarism, which counters the narrative that education makes us moral people (the same issue can be found in the advanced and educated German society in WWII) 6. It undercuts the intense persecution of orthodox Christians for millennia, and harms the myth that Islam can coexist with Christianity.

@Critical_Scribe You hit the nail on the head about people getting jaded with a no kill rule. It's why I love and hate Batman. I understand why he has a no kill rule, but a character like the Joker? Fucker needs to die.

Situational. No Kill can work for shorter stories but when you have a long running series and the same villain is spared after killing countless people multiple times, your readers get jaded by the idea. Kill is the same thing in reverse. In a shorter story it’s good since it cleans up plot threads pretty nicely, but in a long running series the character feels like a murderhobo. No Murder is interesting, but can border on being a too naive at times since a lot of it stems from a character unintentionally killing someone so it “isn’t their fault”. Situational forces a character to have clear lines that shouldn’t be crossed, which makes their reactions varied throughout the story. The hero that spares someone because he has them tied up and at his mercy, for instance, might change his tune right as he hears that his prisoner killed a child in glee previously. Same character could also just try to cull a criminal enterprise by getting most of the people arrested, but if he runs into the leader and they’re straight up the Joker, he might decide that putting them down for good is the better move. It’s a much more interesting dynamic to explore because it makes the character forces the character to think about their actions more in the long run, which leads to more contemplative heroes. It’s also a cool tool to use as a twist to have your typical hero all of the sudden put down a threat in cold blood because he recognizes the threat.

@oliverburdick Catholics do not worship Mary, but you know that. You just needed to post something inflammatory days after a nun gets beat up in the streets to show what a good Christian you are.

@Critical_Scribe "Tell your own story. Even if you are the only audience for it, tell it anyways." That's what I like to say. Wish I knew programming tho, but then the kind of video games I want to make would probably be pretty niche.
