@marcjoffe The article pointed out that falling birthrates across the globe too, would impact immigration, although climate change could alter that if parts of the world become unlivable. India for example getting worse and worse heatwaves with temps/humidity closing in on human endurance.

@BenjaminTuron That's possible and although I don't think immigration would solve the issue, I think we should allow more of it (a view that puts me at odds with many who comment on my posts).

@marcjoffe @CJ_Roses In NYS its not uncommon for one local transit authority to serve multiple counties, the Capital District Transit Authority (CDTA) serves now six counties (Warren County is north of Saratoga, just added) with local and interurban bus service, and owns two Amtrak stations.

@CJ_Roses @marcjoffe Well the MTA is the NYC Subway, Metro-North, the LIRR, and three bus divisions -- and as I stated there is the MTA payroll taxing district. Comparisons to other rail systems should be insightful, how they operate, how they are funded, ridership and transit-oriented development.

@CJ_Roses @marcjoffe When you become an advocate you should become informed (as I belive @marcjoffe is) on the subject at hand, seeking more information. I'm not an expert, but the fact that NYC has a lower sales tax (there is a MTA payroll tax) might indicate that there are potential alteratives 🙂

@BenjaminTuron @marcjoffe Why should we the taxpayers pretend to experts in transportation. There are stories every week of staggering waste coming from BART and Caltrain (just this week signing contract to pay one consultant $1.4M per year). We’ve see and had enough. Same culture as bullet train.
