Starmer is showing the unflashy - but vital - virtues of stoicism and steadfastness in the face of all the distractions, underhand attacks and noise swirling around him. His consistence and persistence will be appreciated in time. The poem “If” could have been written for him.

To me it appears that Burnham thinks he can stop the merry go round at will, jump on and take it elsewhere Keir has done the heavy lifting His first priority was to fix broken Britain Now is not the time for self destruction #TenYearKeir

Amazing how quick our media have left Farage’s 5 million bung behind isn’t it. If that was Keir Starmer, I’m sure Chris Mason and co would’ve barely mentioned it …

Viviane: 🌹Labour led by Keir for me
I’ve seen lots of tweets letting me know what Burnham won’t change. Can anyone let me know what he will change? From where I sit it’s obvious that we don’t need this enforced ‘change’ at all. What a huge waste of time, money and credible for our Party.

Successive UK govts have dehumanised disabled people, and they have also dehumanised the poorest people - many of whom are disabled people. This has been intentional, damaging and shameful.

What is the point of @BBCNews @BBCBreakfast if all they do is regurgitate lines from the RW press. Matt Brittin should shut it down for 3 months and relaunch in September with new talent. Nobody would miss it apart from the Tories and Reform. #bbcbreakfast

This article says climate change is “believed to have played a role” in the UK's extreme heat this week. As a climate scientist, let me fact-check that. First, climate change is not a religion. No belief is required. It is about evidence. And the evidence has been crystal clear for more than two decades: climate change is making heat waves hotter, longer, more frequent and more dangerous. In fact, science has advanced far beyond saying climate change merely “played a role.” Today, we can quantify how much more likely and how much hotter climate change made a specific event. Here's the bottom line: Climate is changing. Humans are responsible. And we are experiencing the impacts now. That’s the bad news. The good news is that solutions already exist, and the majority of people care - 89%, around the world! But meaningful action depends on helping people understand not just what is happening: we need to know how it affects our lives (this heat wave being example A today) and what we can do about it. That’s the opportunity this reporting missed. bbc.com/news/articles/…

Why @jessphillips are you so disloyal to a decent man, and good PM, Keir Starmer. You were one of Labour's best, but have learnt nothing from the conveyer belt years of Tory Prime Ministers. It is so sad to see you falling for the mainstream media's trap #StickWithStarmer

The Prime Minister will have to go even if Andy Burnham loses the Makerfield by-election, prominent former minister Jess Phillips has said during her talk at Hay wp.me/p8Mk4U-1lPw

Oh the irony @bbcnickrobinson suggesting that journalists shouldn’t be challenged for asking necessary questions. When you and your colleagues on @BBCr4today begin reporting on Farage, Harborne and the ‘bungs’, and his apparent disappearance then we will start to listen to you.

YET MORE chaos from South East water. During soaring temperatures, households in Kent have had to endure 3 days of water outages. This is the inevitable outcome of a system where water companies are emboldened to bend and break the rules for profit. @sojanuk will you stand up for your constituents by signing our open letter to Ofwat, and rejecting Thames Water's attempts to set a new low for the entire water industry? 90 MPs have already signed.

@LBC @BBCNews I’ve never seen such public outrage over what Andy Burnham, Lucy Powell, Jake Simons and a small cabal of cowards tried to inflict on our hardworking Prime Minister. National Outrage. Decent people don’t support this. Stand by Starmer like MP’s like @JohnSlinger

I think a lot of people underestimate the scale of the mess Labour inherited and overestimate how quickly any government can turn a country around after 14 years. You can disagree with individual decisions, but rebuilding stability, credibility and functioning public services was never going to happen overnight. Voters said they wanted serious government again. Constant leadership speculation just risks dragging politics back into the same chaos people rejected. #StickWithStarmer #Labour #UKPolitics

@CharlieM2024 The frustration and anger stems from waiting 14 long years for a Labour Government, then the Pretender Burnham is back on the scene creating instability and disunity! We have a right to be angry!

The press are quite rightly discussing a man who used money that wasn’t his to buy a PlayStation, biscuits, a telescope and a campervan. But absolutely fuckall about the criminal @Nigel_Farage who accepted a £5m bribe - laundered by buying houses - to subvert our democracy. 🤷🏻‍♂️
