my last tweet went 35k views… so here's Bangkok cost-of-living breakdown (pilates lifestyle) 🇹🇭 don't worry, no keyboard wars this time. 🏠 $135 common area fee (own condo, Asoke, pool/gym/sauna) 🥗 $600 cafes, dining out, delivery, zero cooking 💆 $280 wellness; Pilates + Pole, massage / acupuncture / physio ⚡ $40 utilities 📱 $80 subscriptions; mobile, youtube, gemini, whoop... 🏥 $80 health insurance 🚗 $110 car fuel (no BTS/MRT) 🛍️ ~$130 essentials (skincare, manicure, cosmetics, occasional clothes) 🥂 ~$130 socializing (rooftop + 1–2 nights/month) total ~$1,585/month --- reality check: bangkok isn’t "cheap thailand" anymore. costs rise every year. your dollar stretches harder in hanoi. but thailand is my first home. thai spice in my blood. thai smiles = default comfort. wellness is my wildcard - heavy investment, happy returns. imo: bangkok = best value stack. quality of life × affordability. same lifestyle in NYC/LA? $7k–$10k+ easy. my take: don’t tourist a city. live it 30 days. move like a local. observe. adapt. respect culture. drop the ego. you’ll find your answer. home isn’t hype. it’s alignment. don’t rush. don’t copy trades. DYOR. context: typical thai citizen spends ~$650–970/month. so yes, you can run a premium lifestyle relative to local baseline. for $700-1,200 you can snag a 1BR condo in Thonglor with a pool * avoid Bangkok in Q1 - PM 2.5 pollution is high.
