Christ is risen from the dead, and with him, we too rise to new life! This Easter proclamation embraces the mystery of our lives and the destiny of history, reaching us even in the depths of death. #Easter

Pope Leo XIV at the Stations of the Cross: "Every person in authority will have to answer to God for the way they exercise their power." Jesus says. "Whatever you do to another human being, especially to the small and vulnerable, you do unto me. And it is to me that you will one day give an account."

Pope Leo carried a wooden cross for all of the 14 stations of the Way of the Cross at the Colosseum on his first Good Friday as pontiff, marking the first time in decades that a pope carried the cross to every station jrnl.ie/7003715

I don’t know how this Pope happened. It feels slightly miraculous.

8th station: Mothers weep for their children "imprisoned during protests, deported by policies devoid of compassion, shipwrecked on desperate journeys of hope, killed in war zones, & wiped out in death camps." Grant us, Lord, a maternal heart & tears of compassion.

There are views in the Peak District that you can lose yourself in, watching for hours as the light changes, the mist moves, the shadows shorten. Your eyes follow miles upon miles of stone walls, stretching fields, hills and valleys, dotted with trees. You watch the sheep and the birds, you wonder about the lives in the farms and the barns. And then you realise that you're late for your appointments yet again. "Sorry, I was distracted by beauty." Surely that should always be forgivable?!

I’ve long admired the steady, principled leadership of Secretary-General António Guterres. His commitment to human rights, the dignity of refugees, climate justice, and confronting global inequality reflects the kind of moral clarity our world urgently needs. It was an honor to meet him this week at the UN.
NYC has always been a home to the world, shaped by the dreams and struggles of people from every corner of the globe. Our relationship with the United Nations is part of that story, and it’s one we must continue to deepen. Together, we can build a more just future for people around the world.
