Now six dogs. Apollo, the large brown dog pictured below, had some kind of acute attack over several hours and died last night. Such a humble dog, a sweet gentle giant.

@SongezoZibi Unfortunately, what you say is true. South Africans are selfish, lawless drivers. Many deliberately disobey traffic rules. Being on the roads is often an extreme sport.

I no longer think visibility is an effective approach on this. Cops can’t be on every kilometre. Bottom line is that South Africans are lawless on the road as a general attitude. Drivers and pedestrians totally disregard one another’s safety and it kills people.

110 women have been murdered in KZN since the start of October, until a week ago. That’s according to police minister Senzo Mchunu, speaking at a police funeral. 64 of those women were shot and killed, 24 were stabbed to death, 15 were beaten to death, 4 suffered blunt force trauma while 3 others were burned to death. The majority were killed by people known to them. @eNCA

Last week, before this damn flu that's slowing me down intensified, we checked in with several major grain farmers across South Africa. The general message we got was that planting is progressing as planned and the rains of the past few weeks helped. There are areas, however, that still need rain to fully plant. But there is still time. Overall, we remain optimistic about South Africa’s 2024-25 agricultural season, for all commodities.

Amy Peters, 34, was found lifeless in her home in Booysen Park, Gqeberha, on 7 October 2024. Neighbours discovered Amy’s lifeless body with severe head injuries, alongside the body of her husband.
