@BestBritishBeef @BarnOwlTrust @SomersetLive If it's not smart enough to get out of a troth then that's nature's call

To all livestock farmers, particularly during this hot time, please remember to safeguard Barn Owls from drowning in your troughs! I put concrete blocks in mine! @BarnOwlTrust @SomersetLive

Heat wave!
In the uplands of England we’re fortunate to have a cooling breeze, most of the time.
Still, shade helps the beef cattle and, by law, I have to provide it at 32c and above.
I’ve planted thousands of trees on the farm; shade and shelter were key reasons. Right now, I have to use the tree cover I have wisely.
The portable water trough means I can easily graze in shade during the day, then, in the open overnight.
Eat real red meat and animal fat; buy the best you can.

@TalesOfKalfinda @JusticiarsWatch @TrooperSnooks @BarnOwlTrust @SomersetLive Large herbivores are needed to maintain many grassland habitats. If you can bring back bison to roam our lands once again, then perhaps I’ll agree with you. However, people like meat & in small quantities is good for you. We do need to eat much less though, & stop all imports.
English

@JusticiarsWatch @TrooperSnooks @BestBritishBeef @BarnOwlTrust @SomersetLive You shouldn't own livestock.

@BestBritishBeef @TrooperSnooks @BarnOwlTrust @SomersetLive Can you post an example? New to farming.

@herdyshepherd1 I know it’s business but do you not get attached to the bulls and are sad to see them go ?

@audlemagronpaul @LoveNatureSF @DuncanWestbury Efficient at damaging what matters, hence the situation we are now all in.
English

@LoveNatureSF @DuncanWestbury Your garden does not scale up to a farm. That’s why we no longer spend 40% of our time tending / growing our food. We are more efficient now thanks to technology like this.

We must find other ways to prepare a seed bed prior to drilling crops. My concern is that the drive for regenerative farming “is a key reason for the increase in the use of glyphosate [roundup]” theguardian.com/environment/20…

@GrahamDenny9 @AndrewGilruth @houndtrail @MoorlandAssoc @blackgull @ChrisNi1969 @CA_TimB This isn’t rewilded land so not sure what your point is? It’s precisely the opposite - land which is trying to be held in a temporary state, land which isn’t climate resilient.

Brave and tireless work , rewilders you can soon lose what you haven’t seen without management! @AndrewGilruth @houndtrail @MoorlandAssoc @blackgull @ChrisNi1969 @CA_TimB

💪 This update from the North York Moors Moorland Organisation shows the huge effort made by firefighters, gamekeepers and farmers to contain the Langdale Moor wildfire.

We should all eat less meat, but when we do it meat ensure the quality is high #BestBritishBeef

Will you be eating less meat to hit Starmer’s climate target? 👀

@bencm305 I would delay the cover crop drilling unless you’re sowing cacti!
