On May 13, 2026, the affected residents of Kituntu Village, Kyotera District, petitioned EACOP Co. Ltd after their community well was destroyed during pipeline construction, and never replaced.
Despite promises, no alternative water source has been provided to date.

How this happens on a 2 mile wide stretch of the Amazon River is beyond my comprehension.
The scrape happened at the confluence of Napo/Amazon River. The oil barges continued navigating for 20 Miles downriver. Wow.

Oil spill update on the Amazon River. Up to 200 gallons , allegedly from the bilge of tanker " Petro Norte 2" Starting near a small Amazon river community "Capironal" on the Northern banks. The oil slick is spreading a length of 80 km along the southern bank of the Amazon River. Due to seasonal floods, the oil is creeping into the tributaries of Yanashi , Arambaza and Orosa Rivers, affecting negatively many small communities. Thankfully it is a small amount but could have been avoided. Informality for safety and environmental protocols is common in Peru and is reflected in nearly every state institution. Our operations are not affected by this spill mainly because the discharge of the Napo River pushes all floating debris to the southern bank . The affected communities are organizing and looking for answers from the authorities.
