Great meetings in Canada yesterday 🇨🇦. I met with Secretary of State for Children and Youth @annamgainey and Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister of Canada @mablanchard65, where we discussed @FLOTUS’s Fostering the Future Together initiative to help children learn grow and thrive through the safe use of technology. We also discussed how allied partners and donors can work alongside committed national governments to strengthen school environments by improving learning outcomes and ensuring every school-age child receives nutritious daily meals, healthcare, and WASH services to become "Super Schools.”

In London, I met @SarahBrownUK (not pictured), an advocate for education and child well-being, to discuss how private financing can unleash the next generation’s potential. I also met with @BambosMP, MP and Chair of the UK’s All-Party Parliamentary Group on Global Education, to discuss approaches to education in crisis settings and with @FCDOGovUK officials David Bailey and @AnnabelGerry to strengthen the U.S. - U.K. partnership on children’s issues 🇺🇸🇬🇧

Grateful for the opportunity to meet with EU and Belgian partners in Brussels, including Martin Seychell (DG INTPA), Ambassador Hubert Roisin, and Hanna Jahns (DG ECHO), and the King Baudouin Foundation to explore how we can deliver real results for children globally 🇪🇺🇧🇪

Productive day in Berlin with four excellent meetings: Dr. Ina Heusgen, Germany's humanitarian aid chief; government development specialists led by Maria Adebhar at the Federal Chancellery; and the Siemens and Bosch Foundations. We discussed our shared mission to improve the lives of children worldwide, particularly those most in need.

Amazing experience touring the CM Shri School in New Delhi, India, a model government-run K-12 school with a career center, language lab, facility for special needs and children with disabilities, an impressive library, and nutritious meals (both breakfast and lunch) served to every student daily.  My favorite part was hearing directly from the students, answering their many questions, and discussing with the principal how he puts his pupils first every day.

Energetic, bright-eyed students at the Sulabh Public School shared with me their impressive science projects made possible thanks to a @Boeing STEM program. I also toured their sanitation technology museum, met eight aspiring young pilots learning to fly commercial jets, and delivered remarks on the importance of incorporating the latest technology into the classroom.

Met with India's Member Secretary of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Dr. Sanjeev Sharma, to discuss the country's efforts to combat sex trafficking and exploitation and learn more about how the government is taking action to support vulnerable and at-risk children.

India's Joint Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, Meera Srivastava, and her colleagues, shared with me how the country provides healthcare and sanitation to 210 million children in government-funded schools—bringing essential services directly to students.

While in India, met with Sanjay Kumar, Secretary of School Education and Literacy, to discuss primary and secondary education across the world's most populous country—including the critical work of ensuring quality education and providing nutritious school meals to students.

Thank you @USAmbIndia for your leadership in India and throughout Southeast Asia. I enjoyed our meeting and appreciate the full support of the embassy to help my office improve the lives of children throughout India, particularly those most in need.

This week, @USAmbBangladesh and I met with top UN representatives in Bangladesh to discuss @StateDept’s $2 bil partnership with OCHA, the gradual transition of key programs to the government of Bangladesh, and critical issues like school meal programs, school-based healthcare, and safe water, sanitation, and hygiene.

@USAmbBangladesh and I met with partners on the ground to discuss how regional actors can support the education and protection of 500,000+ Rohingya children in the world's largest refugee camp—children and families who fled from Burma to Bangladesh nearly 9 years ago.

Healthy children are better learners. When we work with families and government to protect children from preventable diseases, they can thrive in school, excel at their education, and become future contributors to their nation's economy.

Special Envoy Harder and Ambassador Christensen had a productive meeting with Education Minister Milon. They discussed how American educational expertise can equip Bangladeshi youth with skills that drive economic growth and prosperity.
