#sharemyclassroom
Getting ready to start a new semester tomorrow and just wanted to share my classroom setup.
16 tables. All students facing the direction of instruction.
Most people think gluten is just about digestion, but did you know it’s been linked to headaches, joint pain, cognitive decline, and depression?
You can find my free guide to discover how gluten could be affecting you in ways you never imagined here: drperlmutter.com/guides/focus-o…
A local museum posted an image of a 1965 school desk inscribed with "Benny & Linda".
Benny responds in comments.
Benny and Linda have been together for 51 years…
@kwalker_1@doll_elizabeth@OkiNicHoe@heymrsbond If I were still in the classroom, I’d consider a “tropical vacation” theme for December. Lots to celebrate and it doesn’t make anyone have to participate in activities that require endurance, resilience, or pretending.
I just like palm trees. ☺️
And I’m a Christian, fwiw
@kwalker_1@doll_elizabeth@OkiNicHoe@heymrsbond Elizabeth, you clearly care about kids needing hope and celebration around the holidays. I don’t think the the decorations must necessarily be red and green, or anything else in particular. 1/2
@JennerJinks Sure, whether that’s placebo effect or context-dependent memory or state-dependent learning (like why some people are better at pool or darts while drinking), and peppermint helped me perk up when sleepy. It was some small way I could influence my experience.
Two weeks ago in my class, I had a student tell me, "I'm really really bad at math, I fail all my tests."
"Hm. How do you do on homework and stuff?"
"That's whats so weird! I do fine on homework! But when I have to test, I fail!"
@joshuadpease Hi, I’m only just now discovering you here, but I’m closing up shop here in a day or two. Please move over to b s k y.
Hope you’re well. Good luck with your Christmas store ❤️
I don’t think we’re aware of just how fragile this whole “democracy” thing is and how quickly it can crumble when we all stop believing in some basic central ideas.
And Trump, in my estimation, really really really doesn’t care about any of that stuff.
“We reject rhetoric, policies, and actions that demean or discriminate against any of God's children and will be vigilant in defending the rights of the vulnerable and speaking out against oppression.” - United Methodist Council of Bishops
This is the way, Christians.
@rickpidcock@kkdumez Are we ok? Hell no.
Can we come together and rebuild a theology that centered on loving each other and promoting dignity of everyone.
My current hope is coming from being in community that loves to love and loves to care.
…Regardless of the outcomes.
I wrote this song in January 2022 after a series of tweets between @kkdumez and I. And I never told her about it. It's been a way for me to lament how the church has chosen war over love. But given what we're grieving this week, I thought I'd share it. youtu.be/Y_zWNRtjV4Y
@duns_sc0tus@DylPar252 And if they’re behind, there goes the college scholarship. And this anxiety is there for music lessons, scouts, tutoring… if you don’t get the right combo, you won’t afford college. /end
@duns_sc0tus@DylPar252 It’s not just softball in the spring, but summer, fall, and travel team too. And if you don’t do it all, you wonder if you’re putting your kid at a disadvantage when they have to try out for the school team. 2/
Jon Stewart on election night: "We're all going to have to wake up tomorrow morning and work like hell to move the world to the place that we prefer it to be." #DailyShow
May we one day return to a presidential election in which millions of Americans may be disappointed by the outcome, but they’re not terrified that democracy will die and hard-fought freedoms will be torn away.
A Christian voting guide in two verses:
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” -Philippians 2:3-4
It takes a great deal of arrogance to live in the U.S. with over 200 different sects of Christianity, all with their own unique interpretation of the Bible, yet insist that other Christians aren’t “real Christians” unless they vote by your interpretation of “Biblical values.”
