The conservation headland field margins and hedgerows were looking great on the Norfolk estate today. I saw six painted lady butterflies in just one small area. There was also an abundance of birdsong. Conservation@althorp.com #conservation #Spencerestates

The Greylag geese spent a lot of time "swearing" at visitors attending Althorp's literally festival this weekend. They're not used to seeing people at this time of the year when they have their goslings with them. I hope they all behave better tomorrow. Conservation@althorp.com

In December, the Govt will decide if it will renew the glyphosate licence until 2041… •That’s 15 more years of impacts on worms, bees, soils and run-off into ponds and rivers, and glyphosate in your food. Sign Garden Organic’s petition NOW to ban this dangerous herbicide.

For all my dear Twitter pals who are stuck indoors today, come and stand with me this morning and listen to the dawn chorus. The Tawny Owl and the Cuckoo is calling in this, the loudest month for the chorus. Migratory birds join the residents to establish territory.

@Bfbirdsofprey That's brilliant. Swifts are having such a tough time finding places to nest. Every box genuinely helps. Hope they find them soon 🤞

Day off today. Wife took me to a Spa Hotel for our Anniversary. I took a good book along, raised a few eyebrows! Conservation@althorp.com

On our way to put up four Swift boxes in West Norfolk this afternoon. It’s not too late for this breeding season as the Swifts are only now arriving here.

@Bfbirdsofprey @networkrail @_BTO The problem with network rail and why this isn’t happening is they’re not really accountable to anybody especially the public and don’t really care about public perception.

Hey @networkrail how is it going unblocking the Swift nesting sites on the Chapel Milton Viaduct? You may wish to read this report by the @_BTO to give you an overview of why so many people are appalled. The bird on the cover is a Swift…
