In politics, symbols often become a language of their own. They communicate identity, values, and a lasting connection with the people. Throughout Africa, many great leaders have been remembered not only for their words and actions but also for distinctive symbols that became part of their public image. - H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni (Uganda) – the trademark hat. - H.E. Daniel arap Moi (Kenya) – the fly whisk. - Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga (Kenya) – the fly whisk. - H.E. Nelson Mandela (South Africa) – his colourful "Madiba" shirts, symbolizing unity and reconciliation. - H.E. Julius Kambarage Nyerere (Tanzania) – his simple traditional attire and walking stick, reflecting humility and servant leadership. - H.E. Kenneth Kaunda (Zambia) – the white handkerchief he famously carried during public appearances. - H.E. Thomas Sankara (Burkina Faso) – the red beret, symbolizing courage and revolutionary leadership. - H.E. Muammar Gaddafi (Libya) – his distinctive traditional robes and sunglasses. - H.E. Kwame Nkrumah (Ghana) – his kente cloth, representing African pride and independence. - H.E. Patrice Lumumba (DR Congo) – his signature horn-rimmed glasses, which became closely associated with his image. As for me, I have chosen the walking stick as my political signature. To me, it represents guidance, resilience, wisdom, and standing firmly with the people through every challenge. Every leader leaves a legacy, and every legacy is remembered by something that inspires generations. After all, H.E Julius Kambarage Nyerere had a walking stick and represented his people effctively, I will also keep mine jealously Alunta Continua! @Parliament_Ug @pwatchug @NRMOnline @ntvuganda @ObothOboth @KagutaMuseveni

How about the contractor, Wilbert Womakuyu, over the alleged mismanagement of the Shs400 million meant for Bulago Health Centre III? If we are serious about fighting corruption, then accountability must be applied fairly and without fear or favour. Let us remain as impartial as possible and allow every allegation to be investigated objectively, regardless of who is involved. @BalaamBarugahar

As we celebrate success and embrace new responsibilities, let us never forget the elderly mothers who stood with us from the beginning. They cooked for us, prayed for us, and offered wisdom that guided our journey. Leadership is not only about remembering those in high offices, but also those whose quiet sacrifices made our victories possible. Let us continue to honor, respect, and support them. Their blessings and counsel remain invaluable. @Parliament_Ug @pwatchug @NRMOnline @KagutaMuseveni

@Thomas_Tayebwa Rt. Hon. Tayebwa has little moral authority to lecture others on corruption when his former boss, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, is under house arrest facing corruption-related charges. Many Ugandans also continue to question the consistency of accountability and the application of justice (Selective Justice). At the same time,He should address the legitimate concerns of MPs regarding the delay and discrepancies in the payment of salaries and allowances between 13th and 25th May 2026. Leadership begins with accountability and fairness. He should account for all funds he received in the 11th Parliament @Parliament_Ug @pwatchug @mkainerugaba @KagutaMuseveni @StateHouseUg

🇺🇬 TAYEBWA: LET US SUPPORT HON. BALAAM Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa told Public Accounts Committee members that corruption would resist accountability but Parliament must remain firm in protecting public resources. In this clip: • Why he described corruption as a national crisis • His warning that corruption "fights back" • Why he defended Hon. Today, I joined my senior colleagues, Hon. Simon Mulongo, Minister of State for Gender, Labour and Social Development, and Hon. Shafiga Wanyenya, Vice Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Climate Change, at Mother Majeri Primary School for the presentation of the Environment Gold Award. It was inspiring to witness young learners leading the fight against climate change through practical environmental conservation. Investing in our children is investing in a greener, safer, and more sustainable Uganda. Together, let us continue to champion environmental protection, because the future of our nation depends on the actions we take today. #ClimateAction #GreenUganda #LeadershipThroughService @Parliament_Ug @pwatchug @min_waterUg @nemaug @ObothOboth

Today, I took time to visit my honourable colleague, Hon. Agnes Nandutu, at Luzira Maximum Prison. We shared a long and heartfelt conversation about leadership, service, resilience, and the realities of public life. She also entrusted me with messages for the Bamasaaba people, Umukuka Papa Jude Mike Mudoma, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba (MK), and H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, which I will deliver through the appropriate channels. This visit reminded me that leadership is not only about standing together in moments of celebration, but also about showing compassion and solidarity during difficult times. As national leaders, we must learn from every experience, remain humble, and never forget our colleagues when they face challenges. History judges leaders not only by the positions they hold, but also by the humanity they demonstrate. Let us continue to build a politics of empathy, unity, and hope, knowing that today's circumstances can change tomorrow, but our character and commitment to one another should remain steadfast. For God and My country! @Parliament_Ug @pwatchug @NRMOnline @mkainerugaba @KagutaMuseveni @OPMUganda

Uganda 🇺🇬 is shining again without spending much. We have talked about this before, but it often goes unnoticed. We jumped onto the chimpanzee trend, and once again Uganda is making international headlines without investing millions in promotion. Imagine what we could achieve if we intentionally supported and invested in our talented children and young creatives. They are becoming some of our greatest ambassadors, opening doors for Uganda on the global stage. It’s time we stopped taking this talent for granted and started investing in it. The return for our country would be enormous.

Prof Katunguka should know that we are aware of his dealings using his company Hemis consortium to swindle government money I call upon the relevant oversight and accountability institutions to thoroughly investigate allegations of corruption and abuse of office in the procurement and management of public resources at Kyambogo University. If there is credible evidence of wrongdoing, those responsible should be held fully accountable in accordance with the law, regardless of their position. Public officials are entrusted with safeguarding taxpayers' money, and any allegations of conflicts of interest, procurement irregularities, or embezzlement deserve an independent, transparent, and impartial investigation. The fight against corruption must be consistent across all public institutions, and due process should be allowed to establish the facts before any conclusions are reached.

Every opportunity to serve as a Guest of Honour is more than a ceremonial invitation. It opens doors to meaningful business discussions, builds lasting partnerships, and widens one's social and professional networks. Leadership is not only about giving speeches; it is about creating relationships, exchanging ideas, and unlocking opportunities that transform communities. Every invitation is a chance to learn, connect, and inspire. @Parliament_Ug @pwatchug @NRMOnline @KagutaMuseveni

One lesson many people believe is that before God elevates you, He often exposes the people and situations that are not truly for you. Challenges, betrayal, and opposition can become moments of revelation, preparing you for your next level. Stay focused, remain humble, and let every experience teach you who genuinely stands with you. Promotion comes with wisdom, and wisdom comes from discernment. @mkainerugaba
