I don’t care all that much about the lack of playoff experience. Still, his point has validity. But @FredVanVleet should be MORE troubled by Houston’s own issues. I think the Rockets have not shown they can contend for the title this season. And think they are 50-50 to get out of the first round.
English

Houston Rockets guard @FredVanVleet isn’t buying the hype around the Spurs.
“Have they won it (the Finals)?.. Have they had a playoff series?.. Ok, so everybody slow the f* down.”
Says he’s taking the Rockets 🚀 over the Spurs in a seven-game playoffs series.
What say you?

@gwizzy12 Glad I didn’t see your tweet before I released my Big 10 Tourney Game of the Year on Purdue. Not that the 1-15 stat would have made a difference. But, still, that is nuts for a Matt Painter-coached team.
English

I don’t think so, Sam. It is only because it was Kobe Bryant. If it was Bam Adebayo sitting in those shoes, nobody would give a toss if someone scored 84 points to pass his 83. The whole thing is silly. Wilt the Stilt is #1. The rest of the list is not worth any amount of angst.
English

@bigal_com I've had this thought today too, but I guess people consider Kobe the modern record. It's the post-merger high, the post 3-point line high. Or, rather, it was.
English

@arkaavs If all you care about is PPG, then maybe you would support changing the name of the MVP Award to "Offensive Player of the Year." But until that occurs, let's consider the 50% of a player's game that is DEFENSE. Wemby won't have the offensive stats of Nikola or Shai but so what?
English

Guess how many times Wemby was the leading scorer in those OKC matchups he “dominated”
Justin Termine@TermineRadio
Wemby: 4-1 vs OKC 2-0 vs BOS 2-0 vs DET Yet to play Denver this year. He's dominated the other top MVP candidates all year long. If SGA going 3-0 vs Jokic means something, then Wemby going 8-1 in these games has to mean something too.

Given that 0 NBA playoff games are played without rest, I wanted to see how the league's elite teams are performing when they weren't unrested. Here are the straight-up and ATS records, and the average point spread differentials (thru March 10):
Thunder 47-8 SU; 29-25-1 ATS (avg LD 2.61)
Spurs 38-15 SU; 30-23 ATS (avg LD 2.55)
Nuggets 30-21 SU; 27-23-1 ATS (avg LD 0.12)
Pistons 38-16 SU; 28-26 ATS (avg LD 1.77)
Celtics 36-18 SU; 31-23 ATS (avg LD 1.48)
Knicks 36-19 SU; 30-25 ATS (avg LD 1.80)
English

@DPGSpurs This never, ever gets old. And for those who don’t understand the “coin toss” reference, San Antonio and Houston owned the same record, so a coin toss gave Houston its Lottery combinations and San Antonio its combinations.
English

@RealSkipBayless Don’t be myopic, Skip. Boston and New York could win the title. The Spurs and Thunder aren’t locks against the East. This isn’t the early 2000s when the Eastern Conference sucked.
English

@TermineRadio Yes, Justin. Wembanyama is the best thing to happen to the league since Steph Curry. Nice to see a player care so much about the game. Even an All-Star exhibition.
English

After years of guys being ‘too cool’ for the regular season, this guy has enough confidence to show emotion like this.
Wemby a godsend for the NBA.
Love it.

Bunch of malarkey about nobody wanted to schedule miami-oh. First, it wasn’t as highly thought of as, say, Akron coming into the season (and Akron is still higher in Pomeroy’s rankings). Second, Akron had no problem putting teams like Purdue, Penn St, Iona and Yale on its non-conference schedule. Why didn’t Miami-OH play such teams?
English

@PeteFiutak Disagree because the P4's refuse to play good G6 schools so what are they supposed to do? Undefeated is nearly impossible for any school.
English

@SpursReporter In what world would the Atlanta Hawks ever want to be connected to a strip club?
English

Spurs big man Luke Kornet just stirred up a league-wide conversation.
In a public letter addressed to the Atlanta Hawks organization, Kornet respectfully asked the team to cancel an upcoming promotional night tied to Magic City, the well-known Atlanta strip club. The club reportedly paid a significant sponsorship fee for the event, which has since become a hot topic across the NBA.

@AnthonyRedd00 @AndrewBrady15 @KyleHunterPicks Do you try to be an asshole, Anthony? Or does it just come effortlessly to you? Absolutely no reason to give Kyle any grief.
English

@AndrewBrady15 @KyleHunterPicks He’s obviously very good. Arbitrary sample sizes chosen to make yourself look as good as possible are lame no matter how good you are.
English

@RealTomPetrini Pump the brakes. OKC’s scoring margin is significantly better. SA should not be title favorites. Let’s see where SA stands in mid-march after their tough 9-game schedule to open that month.
English

@SpursReporter Just goes to show you that there are a lot of stupid people walking this earth.
English

A lot of fans have believed that for years, but when you actually look at how the lottery works, it’s hard to sell that angle. The ping pong balls are drawn in front of media members before the televised reveal, which makes outright manipulation highly unlikely.
It’s also worth noting whether the teams in question were actually lottery “losers.”
Skepticism is fair. Conspiracy is a much tougher case to make.

@winone Since 1990, Kansas has played 12 teams at home on Monday (going into tonight) that owned a better W/L record than Kansas. Kansas is 12-0 in those games. 7-5 ATS.
English

@bigal_com They talked about it before the game but mentioned it was never against a #1 ranked team
English

Watching Kansas/Arizona on ESPN. They showed a fan in the stands which said, Bill Self 38-0 at home on Big Monday. I looked up Kansas’ home record on Mondays. It is 60-0 since 2002 (35-20-3 ATS). So, 56-0 under Self. 4-0 with Roy Williams. Not just “Big Monday” TV games. ANY Monday game — TV or not!
